interesting!

Glad to see that you're OK man! Cars are always replaceable, life isn't. Get another 63!

Glad you're ok! As someone who just went through a nasty accident myself I've never been more at ease owning a Mercedes than that morning.

$21,000+ in damages and 2.5 months later I finally got my car back on friday after having a certified Benz shop do the work and I can say it looks and feels just as good before the wreck.

Mercedes without a doubt does make a great, incredibly safe vehicle. And due to that experience I will never skimp on a automobile purchase for me or my loved ones.

Wish you the best on getting your ride fixed or getting a new one very soon!

(because the wait is just unbearable)

Although the chassis is based on the old E-Class, the materials used in construction of the rest of the car, such as, doors, sides, rear, and other areas are different and not as solid. I was at a body shop a few years back and was discussing this phenomenon when Chrysler was using many Mercedes parts.

PS I've fixed harder/worse hit CLS's in the past and it's not an issue if you have a CERTIFIED M-B shop do the repairs.
You'd probably be a good person to ask about this. I'd assume the 211 E and CLS should be about identical in terms of crash protection? From what I understand, the strength of steels (and amounts used), and overall structural strength, etc., although shaped differently of course, are basically the "same".? If anyone else has any knowledge on that I'd love to hear it as well.

Sorry to hear about the car O/P, but good to hear it protected you so well. That level of protection is VERY impressive.

Cars = Replaceable.
Lives = Not so much.
Thank God that neither you nor the driver of the Charger was hurt.
The CLS AMG will be back on the road and just like new in no time flat. Stay safe!

Thanks guys for all the positive and constructive posts.

What would you folks estimate the repairs to be based on the slides.

1. front door, rear door, side skirt , B pillar, speakers, mirror, front quarter, paint,

It looks really bad but the body shop seems to stand by the repair as being much less than I would think because the lack of moving parts that were damaged.

Juicee,
The parts are a known price, the question is labor, and I have seen cars on the frame machine for more than a few days. The B pillar while not an expensive part could take hours to refit. Guesstimate at least $12K

Wow Juicee, glad to hear you are OK. Your CLS has really been through some butt-hurt.

However it turns out, I hope for the best.

I still cannot believe, I barely felt that car impact, and my car stayed right on course no spin , no failure. I could have driven home.

I worked all day , it rained and it was pretty rough knowing my last moment in my car was an accident. Im alive , Im healthy, Im really happy for that

wow glad to see you are okay, and now i'm thankful i'm driving a CLS63 as well. Rain is a funny thing in LA. You'd think the roads were all covered in black ice with the way people drive in the rain out here. Reminds of the first snow out east... that fist day noone remember how slick snow can be.

Wow, $10k is not too bad.... I would've thought at least $12 to $15k Make sure they use authentic mercedes parts because sometimes they substitute with "equivalent" aftermarket parts.

Glad you're okay Juicee....
