Mercedes vs. Dodge
Had the Mercedes hit the Dodge in a similar manner the Dodge driver would be hospitalized and or ..
Although the car was struck at 40 plus mph , I did not feel a thing just heard a loud thump. The Drivers side door was pushed in at the rocker panel but came nowhere near my body and the reinforced centers stayed true and straight. The roofline and hoodline straight. The Dodge is a total loss as the impact cracked the engine and bent the unibody.
I do not have an estimate but am just glad I did not spend anytime in the emergency room.
Mercedes is definately a quality build,

Damm that's ugly. I'm glad your alright. It's amazing and incredible that the CLS is not a total loss with such an impact. Now replace those doors with some ultra lightweight rig job and go get your 11's.

Did you side airbags activate? Did not see them in the pics. Glad your ok though, people always say their car is faster than an AMG, or prettier, or can handle better, blah blah blah. Guess what, you get the whole package here, not excuses.

That was a base model Charger(that isn't worth much to begin with) that was hit in the front............which costs the most money to fix. Your top-of-the-line CLS was hit in the side on both "A" and "B" pillars which is the strongest part of the car...........to keep you alive and those parts aren't that expensive. Either way it's good to see the cars both did their jobs and save the occupants.
PS I've fixed harder/worse hit CLS's in the past and it's not an issue if you have a CERTIFIED M-B shop do the repairs.

Glad you're okay. Please don't post pics, I don't want to see your AMG damaged ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
EDIT: Never mind, I saw the video. I'm surprised the totaled Dodge didn't do more damage to your car, I guess MB still makes structurally strong vehicles

Glad you are OK, But what a drama life you have going, I was happy you got your car back and all was back to normal, now this. I think that tree that fell on your 55 changed everything in your CAR-ma. Please be careful.

Wow, I am very sorry to see that happen but you are right, a safe car is a life saver and the Benz is a TANK! I am very glad you are ok as that is all that really matters.

04 - 06 e55 Wagon - looking for
Wow, glad you are OK. I wish a speedy and stronger recovery for the CLS. Looking at the side shot, it's pretty scary but good too know safety engineering in the benz is top notch. That said and in fairness to the Dodge, one would never know what type of damages would be sustained for either car and driver unless the roles were reverse.

The Dodge driver walked away as well. What I was exposed to at the repair shop was definately an eye opener.
The Dodge Charger an 08 also protected the driver and allowed him to walk away . The fact is I was shown another Dodge Charger that was impacted in a similar way as my car and the driver was not so lucky. The CLS doors while they came into the cabin below my seats posed no threat to my side or abdomen. On most other cars the smaller supports would have broken and the driver severely injured.
I will definately be looking for another Mercedes because of the enhanced safety measures,
Thanks for all the well wishes,
Keep your cars, they can and will protect your family.

The title should be Mercedes vs Mercedes in a wreck. They both share a Mercedes chassis. Yep, that's right. The Charger is also on a Mercedes E class chassis; however, it uses the 210E chassis which was the NHTSA's safest car on the road from 1996 - 2002. The results are interesting.
