Best Drag Radials for the E55

What are the best drag radials and sizes for the E55? BFG? Nitto? or MT's? I am reading up on the Nittos and kind of leaning towards them but would appreciate some input.

Are you looking for track specific DR's? If you are Hoosier in a 255 50 16 get my vote. I've tried MT Street radials 255 50 16, MT street radial II's in a 265 40 18, and the Hoosiers. Hoosier and the MT street radials are both very good drag tires but I found the Hoosiers to be more consistent. The track I race at is very slippery and DR's are a must for both good ET's and safety for cars like ours. My 60' times are very consistent right now ranging from 1.585 - 1.592 if track prep is decent. The only downfall I might see is that they'll wear faster than the MT's, me personally, I don't care as long as I trust them to stick when it counts.

I have only had experience with the MT Street readial II's in a 255/50/16 and they work GREAT! I've had a couple passes on them and they stick very well for me. 1.6's are no problem.

I'll be tryin the Hoosier's that bassn 07 is talkin about soon in a 255/50/16. I'll get back to you on them.

I have MT's now but I will give the hoosiers a shot next. My goal is to run 11.6x with stock power. I know it sounds but as the red neck said "you about to find out"

I think I want to stick with the stock 18's on the drag radial and would like something I could use everyday not track specific.

1.72 is my best so far, I have room for improvement and I may swap batteries and put skinnies up front.

How do you like the nitto 18's at the track? Did you run it with them on?

i dont know . 17" rims with 35 et maybe someone can tell you if they will fit. i would guess if needed spacers would do the trick.

Ranging from 1.585 - 1.592 if track prep is decent. Right now I have over 10 10 second passes on my hoosiers. My best ET to date is a 10.776 with the 60' timer not registering that day . I'm sure that would have been my best time, oh well. I might have my CCW custom drag rims going up for sale soon which would come with MT Street Radials 255 50 16's. I'll let you guys know if I decide and first come first serve.

I use 17" MB wheels with 275/40/17 MT's and the rims offset is 38

so it looks like a 3mm spacer would be all thats needed if the 35 et isnt a direct fit.

This place needs help with wheel offset info... if he adds a 3MM spacer to a wheel with a 35 offset, it will now have an offset of 32... which makes it stick out further... the lower the offset the further away it should be from the hub... the higher the offset the more the wheel will be tucked...

no help needed. if he is worried about the rims hitting the brakes the 3mm offset will push the rims away from the caliper.

I guess i misinterpreted the math in your post, and how you logically added a +3 to 35... instead of subtracting 3 from 35 to get an offset of 32...

^^ I'm not trying to come at you, i know it's hard to tell with tone with text... as we all know. I'm just trying to help you provide the correct information, maybe it'll help you sell your wheels a little easier...

Here's a calculator that might help make things a little easier. It takes both the current and new setup, also the width of both rims and gives you the offest needed to make the new one work.

the hoosiers are dot rated for the street class but not street legal. the mt et streets and nitto 555r's are dot rated and street legal. the mickey thompsons are legal but be warned the tread pattern is barely enough if you get caught in a storm. nittos are much better on the road but more tread pattern less track contact.
its a trade off
another consideration hoosiers weigh 22 lbs and mt et streets weigh 29 lbs. nittos were mounted when i got them so cant say
