It all depends on how you drive. I'm conservative most of the time, but I do use the torque from a dead stop.

13-14 MPG in town.

I come from germany and the price for gas is a little bit cheaper than in usa. When I were living in usa, I donīt have to get worried about the fuel consumption.
For comparison only: 1 gallone costs in germany $7,35 and in usa 1 gallone will cost around $2,10 > 350% more than you have to pay

I currently average 17.3 with a light foot and when I push the car I get around 11-12... That's if she not sitting in the bay at the local dealer getting work done!

Just being sentimental, my first true love was from Bondorf. Alas, the strain of a trans Atlantic relationship took its toll, but she is always in my heart.

back to the routes

offtopic: is it possible to implantate the new steering wheel in the e55. I mean the steering wheel at the year 2006 until 2008 or the black series steering wheel. In my e350 with sport package this steering wheel was oem.

Yeah, sorry for taking your thread off topic. Next time I'll send a PM.

The steering wheel should be a direct swap. What year is your E350?

05/2005 is the e350
I read that the "older" w211 (until 2005 without sport package) have a different steering wheel hub.

If you have to ask, this is not the car for you!

While I have seen as high as the low 20's, my average for in-town driving is around 8-12 as speeds are low and my right foot is heavy. My average is probably in the 14-15 range but I am hardly ever on the highway and when I am, I take advantage of it.

Top Gear proved a very interesting point on one of their shows not to long ago...it is not what you drive but how you drive it. I think the comparison was between a V8 M3 and a Prius but I could be remembering wrong.

I remember the Top Gear comparison. I hope it was eye opening to some people. I've gotten 13 in a rental prius before... haha. It was a rental and I drove it as such. I didn't trash it just drove it to is max the entire time I had it.

To the OP, mid teens for city and low 20s highway is pretty common.

Nope, your memory is quite accurate. They also proved that the Prius does not get the advertised mileage, during "normal" driving.

Is that 24 mpg what the display told you for a moment in time or what you calculated for a whole tank?

I've driven mine 21.5k miles, mostly highway commuting and my calculated average is 18.2 mpg (Car says 17.9).

The very best I ever got for a whole tank was 21.1 and that was on a non-stop, highway-only tank where I was trying to maximize economy.

Worst full tank was 15, back when I first got the car and was hitting it at every stop light.

After 16K miles my average is 16.7. Best highway mileage I have ever seen is 21.1 also. Several times while going anywhere from 65-75 I have reset the mileage display and drove for a few miles. Computer shows just over 21 if I'm using cruise control. If I make a bunch of short trips and just cruise around town I usually see 9 or so. I don't look at the mileage anymore, just fill it up when it hits a 1/4 tank and drive the wheels off of it. I've done 18K since April.
