EBC Yellowstuff pads?
OK FINE. I'll get the EBC Reds, you guys convinced me. Best place to buy them? And is this the right one: DP31486C? 8 pad system I believe? And they have a place for the sensors?

I bought them from autoanything.com for $156 including tax to my door. yes, it comes with all 8 pads.
Yes, both sensors (different sensors you know) and a provision in the pad for them. Keep in mind that you do not reuse the old sensor V clip. Just slide the new sensors in the new pads.

I have bought ALL of my REDS from summitracing.com.
Shipped straight to my house in about 7-8 working days, as NO ONE carries them in stock for AMG's. Okay, nobody that I could find.
Good luck, and again WHATEVER pad you buy, PLEASE follow their bedding procedure so you don't get any squealing.

We arent asking if there priced right. We are trying to find out why ever other amg e55,s55,sl55 cl500,600 all are $92 and for whatever reason the rotors for the cl55 are triple. Are the rotors for the cl55 actually different an if so does anyone know what is and why there are different.
Few points based on my experience.
EBC reds have as good a bite as OEM. They do squeal especially for the first 1000 miles and even a bit after that on hot days even when following the break-in procedures....perhaps due to not replacing the rotors at the same time.
Next time I will try the Akebonos and will need new rotors also which may be the ticket.
I was under the impression that stock pads were made by Pagid?

Anyway, thought the OEMs were Pagid also, but a tech told me no.... they are Brembos.

I know that's what the prices are, just wondering what is the difference in the rotors between 04-06 or 03-06 CL55s and all other 55s and which one do we need to get? Can we get the $92 (which is listed for 01-03 CL55s, 04-06 E55s, etc.) or do we have to get the $258 one (listed for 04-06 CL55s, all according to parts.com)? The only thing I can think of is if we have different brakes or sized rotors than other 55s? Or, the $258 is the OEM one, and the $92 is Balo or something? Really don't know

plus im pretty sure that the sl55 and the s55 are the same brake components. calipers i'm almost 100% are the same and def the same chasis as the w220 I think.

Dang, maybe I should have picked up EBC Reds instead of the Akebonos. Oh well, guess I'll see... its not like you'll notice much with the SBC anyway.

But seriously, it is embarassing coming to a stop at a light and having your brakes squeal. And it ALWAYS seems to do it on the pressure you are using on the brakes. I tend to brake early and softly to a stop which seems to be the exact spot it likes to squeal when it gets down to 20 MPH and less.
Braking later and harder keeps it from happening, but that is not my braking style.

I can't believe that I post this question last month, and no one even replied to it. Thanks.... Does anyone know of any aftermarkets pads for the E63? I looked around, and can't seem to find anything for the E63. By the way EBC, Akebono and Porterfields do not manufacture pads for the E63. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I doubt you use the brakes when at WOT anyways.

Agree, it would be embarrassing, but my Reds have not squealed since the break in period.

Yellow all the way.
Not sure what people are talking about with the poor cold breaking. I get good performance all the time. EBC all the way!
I run EBC Yellows on my CLS55 and R500. Not that dusty and when you want to stop you can! Still breaking in my CLS55 pads since it does not get driven much and mostly highway at that.
Can't say much about yellowstuff. put them on my cls55 and went to track. Brakes got hot and when cooling them the pad fell off the backing plate and disappeared. These cars are so heavy & powerful and ontop of that the brake system doesn't have enough cooling. I don't see any reason to go these over akebono ceramic which have nice no dust or squeel properties.
my experience.
Boiled the fluid at the track with akebonos and stock fluid. upgraded fluid to castrol race to raise boiling point. Put on yellowstuff. Avoid boiling but pad falls off. Back to akebonos bottomless pads from FCPEuro. Drag & street race the car instead.

Yellow stuff's seem to have gone through multiple compound changes over the years without the public's knowledge.
My review of yellow stuff's, when they're new they're awesome, but as they worn down or once over heated and over heat very easily are utter trash.
My recommendation, use an OEM like pad for the street, and if you need more, something like Endless MX72 or Ferodo DS2500 which for our heavy cars do not qualify for a light duty track pad like they do for lighter vehicles. If you need a track pad, Carbotech seems to have the largest variety and best pricing for their track oriented pads. Swap out pads for your track day.
ALL pads will dust a lot. our cars have larger brakes and are heavy so need compounds that ultimately dust. If dust is an issue, retrofit carbon ceramic brakes.

I'm also no fan of Yellowstuff. I had them on my Seat Leon 1.8T 20VT (260bhp), but wasnt impressed with them, even with proper brake bedding. For the CLS, I will probably go with Hawk Ceramic Pads (front & back) somewhere next year
These should be the correct partnrs
Front axle: Hawk HB731Z.620
Rear axle: Hawk HB842Z.547
