A warning for street racers
I heard this on the news this morning. Keep in mind they said arrests, not tickets.

I'm not what you'd call a street racer myself. Hell nobody gives me a second thought in "grandpa's car" but this is enough for me to think twice before getting too carried away on the street.
More details here:

Not trying to scare anybody but I'm just saying don't think they aren't paying attention because in some cases they are and I can't blame them.

I live in an area with lots of police patrolling the streets and I work across the street from the police department. After being pulled over twice last year (once in my M3 and once in my E63), I've begun driving more conservatively. I'm tired of giving my money to CA because of traffic tickets.

There was a big arrest in my area the other night because of street racing. They really crack the whip on you if you get caught. My friend had his M3 impounded from it. He also spent a night in prison and paid out the *** to get out of jail. He bought his M3 back.

Unfortunately, many states and insurance companies continue to make it very expensive for legal race tracks to operate. This leads to increased costs, which makes the tracks un-affordable for many. As a result, many turn to street racing, which as we've seen countless times in the past, can end-up being fatal in a split second

It's the "skateboard" syndrome. The only way to get skaters off public property was to build community skateboard parks. Otherwise it would never happen.

You're not welcome! I want my money back dammit! One of those tickets was a cell phone ticket. I was around the corner from work and my mom called me. I didn't have my bluetooth on, so I picked up my phone. No less than a minute later, a bike cop who was hiding up on the hill pulls me over. It's not a moving violation, but the ticket cost $150!! That's a $150 phone call!!!

Cool story here . My friend just got his 911TT about a year ago and while driving on 495east he got beside himself and next thing u knew he was doing 140 ! He passes a cop on the shoulder and in a fit of panic immediatly pulls over . The office comes up to the car and asks "Did u stop for me ?" so he lays on the its a new car and i didnt realize and so on . Cop was in disbelief that he pulled over that he never showed for court and the ticket was dismissed !!!!
Now i tried the same thing a few months ago on 495 east doing 130 and all of a sudden the cop on the median hit the lights and i quickly pull over and he goes the other way West lol . Needless to say i laid on the gas again .

The service road of the LIE used to be great - some great stretches where there are no side streets, so you're not endangering anyone else. But, i've seen lots of cops in the last year.

LOL. I did that once years ago. Went flying by a cop and just pulled over and waited for him. I wasn't so lucky - he wrote my up LOL.

Thanks for the info, I need a reminder sometime. Just had a short race with kid in a Civic awhile ago, I minded my own business but they always wanted to test a brotha out.

I've had a speeding ticket bloom into 1800 bucks.
All for 53 in a 40. ( of which I was doing 45 MAX)
taking to court/being young/officer mentioning benz coupe in his story = bitter judge.
Price to appeal the judges call = 310 bucks non refundable even if your appeal is successful and the fines are dropped.
So basically cough up the outrageous fine the judge/"prosecutor" decide, or waste time going through appeals, be out another 310 bucks in appeal fees even if you win and have a chance in hell in succeeding.
What's funny is when the economy is down, cities have more cops roam the streets handing over ridiculous tickets in order to pay for all their benefits, since state funding is decreased once the economy brings down taxable revenue.
Tis fail.

I've never been one to street race, but there is a nice mile long straight stretch out in the country near my parents place that is fun. It's perfectly straight, the road is well taken care of, and it's fun to open it up a little on. Other than that, I usually keep it under 85.
