Dealer or Indy Shop?

Where do you prefer to take your car for maintenance?

M3: Dealer- free maintenance and a mod friendly SA
997TT: Indy shop, same service but much cheaper
GTR: Dealer, free 1k oil change and relatively cheap 4k oil change
ISF: Dealer- dont know of any indys- not modded so no big deal.

Totally depends on why I'm taking it, or doing it myself. Brakes (pads & rotors) I'll do myself. Labor intensive stuff (Stainless brake lines, etc.) I'll take to an Indy. Regular maintenance I do at the dealer (Service A & B), mostly because I'm still under warranty, and by going there my SA is pretty cool about stuff...

Indy-way cheaper than the dealership and just like any local business patronized - once you get to know the owner(s), customer service is second to none!

Just took the C230 to Hyevon on Saturday and Serge and John worked on a whole mess of stuff (https://mbworld.org/forums/3909062-post212.html), not to mention Service A and brake pads. Hyevon was great...

If the maintenance on the M5 wasn't free, I'd take it to Serge as well.

With regards to alignments, I'll only take my cars to West End Alignment or Johnson's Alignment, forget the dealer or anyone else for that matter for alignments.

E63: G+N Motors in West LA or the dealer, all depending on what it is.

993: 200 N. Motorworks on La Cienega in West LA. These guys are super brilliant on air cooled Porsches.

I've heard good things about G&N, but it seems like they're always swamped with cars.

I made an appt. with Serge and he blocked out his Saturday to work on all of the stuff that was wrong with my car.

Matrix Integrated here in Portland. Owner drove a E55 for quite a while. They're honest, up front, and take good care of me.

I use Mobil 1 to top off only because I get my service at the dealer (don't want any warranty hassles) but I would love to have Royal Purple or Torco in there...

You can't go wrong with either one. Mobil is what the dealer recommends but Royal Purple is good too. It's been tried and test by one of the members here. There should be a thread in this forum about it. But if you're looking to save money on doing that service take it to Serge.

I don't advice to go to the stealer = dealer , as one of the members usually says around here .

Specially if the car will only go for normal service (Minor or Major) ...

If EMC (Emirates Motor Company) steals money (they claim they have the biggest center for mercedes benz cars and they don't know what's brabus !!!!! ), so I beleive that others are either the same or close.

Honetly I was not happy with the stealer (dealer) work at all.

Search somewhere else other than the stealer.
