HOOD OPEN... Message.

Did a search but didn't really come up with much. Mostly C classes with the issue.

Either way, I have a message on the dash stating that the hood is open. It clearly isn't. I've checked both latches, they work and lock properly. So obviously it's a sensor issue...

It isn't constant either, it only shows up when the car is in motion. When I'm stopped at a light it goes a way but as soon as you move it get's pissy again...

Has any W211 owner had this problem and were you able to fix it without going to the stealer?

Thanks

Hi Tgoss. I had the same issue two weeks ago. It is a sensor issue! There is a sensor on the passenger side hood latch. Inside the latch their is a sensor which is connected by a wire, you must unbolt the latch and make sure it is #1 making proper contact and #2 the wire is not being pinched when you are bolting it back in place. This will fix your issue!

Yep, I recently had the same thing happen. If you pull the sensor back into place it should last a few days before it drops down again and loses contact. I think it's about a 10 dollar part.

My sensor was loose as well. It kept falling so it wasn't hitting the latch. I just pushed it back in place and super glued it to stay.

Edit: just noticed the post date....
