Bumping an old thread because it's the best one on the Akebono pads. I have been running these Akebono pads for a little over two years and around 20k miles. Here's a picture of the rear pads I took today:

If that pic dies for some reason, it is showing that I still have most of the pad remaining. I have had ZERO problems with these pads. They work great and create practically NO brake dust and I have never had so much as a peep come from the brakes. When the time comes, I will be running these again.
Public Service Announcement: Please stop calling them "break pads". I see it all over the internet. Drives me crazy.

I still run them on all my vehicles and love them. They sure worked great for stopping the 4400 lb CL55 from 180 mph at the Texas mile. The hotter they get, the better they stop.

E55 Akebono EUR984 EURO Ultra-Premium Ceramic Rear Brake Pad Set $99
I concur, I had the EUR983s on the front and the difference is NIGHT AND DAY when it comes to dust

I just recently had a detail done on the car. Guy sprayed the wheels with Iron-X and there was no reaction. Normally it turns purple. He said the wheels were really clean. I don't use wheel cleaner or anything like that. Just the occasional scrub with a rag and soapy water.

Put the Akebono's on a couple of years ago mostly to get rid of the brake dust which they do very well. Liked them enough to also put them on the wifes BMW that always had dirty wheels and now looks cleaner than the car.
Pros: No brake dust, no fade from high speed stops. None at all.
Cons: Less initial bite than factory pads but grip hard with a little heat. However, only with MB. The BMW seems un affected and has good bite immediately.

Out Of Control!!
is it still the preferred method to pull the SBC brake plug? Can the system be bled with the SBC system disabled or no?
