As much as it pains me to agree with him, emoving is correct. There is nothing wrong with the e55 platform. I would have 1 in a minute if I could find the right 1(color/interior/options) at a decent price. I love my c55 as much as I loved my 190 2.3-16. I get a few more dollars loose just as soon as the house is paid off and I will have 1. Will it have problems, yes eventually, and I will pay to have them fixed. If you want 1 with a warranty then you will have to pay more, there is no free lunch.
AMG didnt move away from the supercharger just because of reliability, the 63 was the first ground up amg motor and it was NA. It made more power than the 55supers so they didnt need the supercharger to attain the performance goal. Guess what, the next generation of motors will be FI again, just this time it is turbos. You are alo talking about cars that sticker out at close to 90k plus when new and in 3-4yrs are down in the 30's which most anyone with a decent salary can afford.

Dont complain about build quality and other issues unless you pony up the dollars and buy 1. If you do and it is a POS then you can complain.

The only fail here is you.

I would take a Nissan over any of them. Before the Hyundai we had a 2009 Nissan Maurano. The Nissans have been the only good Jap cars our family has owned. We like Subaru also but have not yet got to them.

I would suggest it is you that needs to grow up. I personally grew up on a farm. I have worked for everything I have and proud of what I have aquired. My father never graduated high school but all his kids made their way thru college. I started my first job making more than my father ever made in his life, and when he found out what I was making he was even more proud.
I have a large family as most were in the era I grew up. Kids where the work force of the farm, and we learned to do everything.
Dont bring that rich snobbish crap into this forum, most of us work for a living and dont try to make excuses for our wants overloading our pocketbook.

So does that mean you are joining the rich and snobby silver spoon club. Hopefully you have researched the w140, because they have their faults also. AC system failure and I have heard of a few others. I would like to know how you have the nerve to assume that we Mercedes owners never did a days work in our lives? I started going to our job sites and cleaning on the weekends when I was in fourth grade, thats elementary school in case you were wondering. For a long time I worked 90 hours in six day work week. So please refrain from making ignorant judgements in regard to us silver spoon snobs. I hope that your w140 makes you happy and gives many years and trouble free miles of service, but just remember if it does break down it will not be cheap to repair. The only advice I can give you is take the car you are intersted in to the dealership service center nearest to you and ask them for a PPI before you buy. That bit of advice saved my friend from buying a dying pig of a R129 that he also thought was bulletproof.

Hey I also own W140 and dont expect they dont break !
They are as expensive as E55 when need to get fix, you better prepare some $$$ for repair !

I cant believe someone who was looking for e55 then start to insult Mercedes from 2000-2007 built quality.... Our cars are not perfect because there is no perfect bullet-prove car.

I really don't get it Ed, you come to a MB forum, mainly and E55 forum and bash the car since day one. What did you expect when you started this post. Then you insult every member by your silver spoon comment. I would seriously suggest getting another brand of car and then join that forum and bash us from there. This thread is completely amazing. Oh, and P.S., I was orphaned at age 1 day and am self made from that point on. The last thing I ever had was a silver spoon. Not that I look down on those people, but your life is what you make of it not what you have been given. You obvioulsy have some serious mental issues to make some of the comment you have made, and if you don not get banned........I will remain in shock! Enjoy whatever decision you make about a vehicle just don't let it define who you are!

If you think that the "merger" of Daimler and Chrysler had much of anything flowing FROM Chrysler TO Daimler - you are sorely mistaken. There were not changes to MB manufacturing as a result of the "merger".

My 2006 has been back to the dealer for some minor stuff - but it's a really nice car and I intend to keep it for a while. I bought the MB extended warranty- but mostly as an insurance policy. The car is well built and solid and I would recommend owning one.

But - it's your money - buy what you want.
