The best ever!!
This might cost my divorce, because my wife was the one who pushed me into buying it. I can't afford to let it go too cheap either, because it need to pay my brother back the money that I borrowed to buy the car. So please someone take this crap from us and maybe save our marriage

He's not really trying to sell, he's trying to get back at MB for a crappy product. I'm sure anybody that is thinking of buying one and searches MB S55 will get to read this and think again...

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
Keep in mind he was the 3rd owner owner of the car-read the Autocheck. Went to auction at 46k, gap from 46k to 61k with no explanation, then sold again to this guy at 61k miles which he had until 80k miles which is on it now. So he picked up a very expensive car with 61k miles on it with no warranty and expected no problems? Did he think Mercedes parts were as cheap as Honda parts which themselves are pricey? The guy got exactly what he has coming to him and I do not feel a ounce of remorse for his decision. Who knows what history the car had prior, but being a early 2003 Mercedes anything is possible. To put in perspective, my GS400 once sold needed a new throttle body within a month. $1500.00+labor for the new owner. My SC430 the DAY after I sold it the new owner claimed the top motor/ecu went out. $2500+ at the dealer! Both well maintained. If your going to play, you must pay. And if your going to buy used, your taking chances without a warranty unless you can source and repair yourself.

+1... why I've said at least 50,000 times on this forum buying these cars cheap w/o warranty is stupid and financial suicide. You can end up upside down on these cars in a heartbeat.

I have had my aftermarket warranties on both my AMGs pay for themselves multiple times over, and I've owned them both since they had very low miles and have had only the best techs work on them. Having problems is simply unavoidable, IMO. Some people get lucky, but most will have many expensive problems.

Yes, it is very unreasonable to assume that Mercedes builds a good product that will last past the warranty without major failures. If you never owned a Mercedes with ABC, you really don't understand what the guy is going through. You can tell that he is just being honest.

The ABC equipped cars are very expensive to maintain but it should not be that way. Mercedes needs to scrap the system and extend the warranty to 10 years or 100,000 for any ABC related part. They built a system that is completely unreliable and crazy expensive to repair. No one that buys a Mercedes should feel that it is acceptable to have such a poor track record.

This isn't just an isolated problem for pre 2003 cars. It's happening to later year models too. The more you read on the CL, SL, S, formus the more you know that the systems are extremely problematic. Do a search on ABC problems and you will be astonished by what you find.

emoving I have not had an s class but knew a few people that did and they no longer have it as it has been a money pit. As you can see from the others that have responded these cars are much more problematic then the other models.

Have you had an s class and if so if you have had a 5 yr old one or so and kept it a few years you may have experienced spending lots of money. On another note the 7 series BMW's are another car that is prone to big dollar repairs as I had a close friend that had one and get a steal on it but sold it within a year as his repair bills where more than his yr of car payments.

No German carmaker builds a car that is going to hold up to 80,000+ miles of abuse without something expensive breaking. My M5 was FLAWLESS for the first 50,000 miles. After that, my extended warranty has paid for itself 3x over.

The hydraulic system for my SMGIII went a month ago, it's basically the brain of the transmission. Would have been $5,000+ to repair had it not been for my warranty.
