Flat Black e55

Wow...4 pages of positive comments, so here I am being the party turd.
So what is the appeal of flat black anyway, I have seen tons of owners doing flat black paint jobs and vinyl wraps on Rolls Phantoms to Lambos?
Mercedes have the most beautiful paint finishes in the world, especially their metallics, it seems to cover them in vinyl! I love how smooth and liquid the paint feels after a wash and polish.
I could see a rat rod or a car that did not have a sweet paint finish.
Scratching my head!

That being said, there ain't no rules in Hot Rodding which is what I like about messing with cars in the first place. We all get to do what WE like.
Carry on.

Ok, I don't get the flat black look for high end cars either. Especially vinyl wraps. To me, thats a look more common on Rat Rods and muscle cars. I'd never do it and think it detracts from the car. One of the things I love about my E55 is that it doesn't look like a performance car or much different than every other E350. The stealth aspect is important to me and a flat black Benz with painted calipers, wheels, etc. is anything but stealthy.

Great thing about my project is that,
1) it was fun doing
2) its different
3) its not just another silver benz
4) I get kick backs for him doing other cars
Thanks for all the comments!

Finished!
Hey guys, here are the finished pics. It was dark out with a foot of snow in the drive way so I could not pull her out of the garage. When the weather turns I will pull it outside and takes better pics with a real camera! Thanks everyone for the positive and negative comments. I enjoyed them all!

I believe you can powdercoat the HE and it won't be a problem. Maybe just do the front only if you were worried about heat.
It looks mean. I think some matte black Forgestar F14's and getting rid of those orange signals up front would make it complete (if that can ever be accomplished).
I like it a lot. Must be nice to have a new "paint job" again too. No more flaws lol
