I was driving home yesterday night and couldn't for the life of me figure out how to turn on the spray for the windshield wiper fluid
.....I don't have the owners manual...Also, if i recall correctly, the e55 I had about a year ago would clean the headlights everytime the wiper fluid was turn on correct?
TIA!!

where the wiper lever is on the left hand side of the steering.. push the center pof the lever/stick w/index finger in as hard as you can and it will spray
as far as the headlights, button to right of the light switch. push in and it will clean the headlights by pumping wiper fluid

This is a classic mercedes function.
I think it came in all Benzes from the 60s or maybe 50s.
When I was little, I used to push this lever in my father's '72 350 SLC and he starts the car the washer fluid came off and the winshield wiper wroked. My father got so pissed every time I did that.![rolf](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
But it is OK not to know this. Im not laughing at you. Just at my memories.

seeing as this has been revived already, i have a related question. when i go to use the washers, the wiper arms move prior to the spray coming out. this means the bug guts end up getting smeared all over the screen before any water hits them. is that how they normally work or do i need to look into it further? 2003 E55
cheers.

Oh sheet my sprayers randomly started working today haha, honestly did nothing to provoke this I rinsed the car with the hose alot today while polishing the rims and then took it on the road and noticed it started spraying after a weak stream, it must have been clogged, lucky day ![BeatDeatHorse](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/beatdeadhorse5.gif)
