'HKS TT' His Nevada plates on a clean looking Supra --- Typical black supra with the normal looking mods --average front mount intercooler, some big exhaust, boost gauge, wheels --- I have no idea what the extent of his mods were but I wanted to race. I tried and tried to lure him but he would not race on the freeway.

I know those things are pretty easy to modify and make fast.. So, dont think i am crazy for trying to race one.

Basically why would you even own one now if you don't have massive or even some updated firepower under the hood.

You might have seen the car and thought "typical", but the 747-lengths it would put on you would not be typical. If that car has anything resembling an HKS TT kit you would be slapped silly on the highway. He probably didn't want to run you because it wouldn't be worth draining 1/4 tank of gas.

Very true on them being monsters -- Its not like I have a lot to lose -- If i can hang = it is a victory -- and I am just curious how my car will do against one --- its not like there are a lot of cars worth racing -- our cars are really fast

So, that Supra was either super tricked out "waste of his time" or only slightly modded "afraid he will lose" -- otherwise he should have raced me.

Also, his window was rolled down -- going about 80mph and you can hear my supercharger very easily, even with the windows up

There are some serious modified Supras with 2JZGTE engines (a stock twin turbo engine) that puts out between 600HP-1200 HP

I wouldn't mess with a Supra especially on the highway. My friend is a huge Supra guy and has owned 7 of them. Here is his last one. 1000h.p. runs the 1/4 in 9.6 or 9.4 I forgot which but that was the first time at the track.

There are Supras out there that make 1000w.h.p. on stock bottom ends. You can make 500h.p with a $15 T-Valve from the hardware store. That's probably why they sold new for $40k and are selling for more than that 12 years after they stopped making them.

You were messing with a nuclear bomb and were lucky to not get incinerated. It's difficult to comprehend how fast these cars are until you've had your a$$ properly handed to you.

Most Supras will suck the doors clean off your E55. He wasn't going to waste his time with a 4-door family sedan (in his mind). Better luck next time!

The first time I ran my Supra flat out, I wasn't even driving it, I was in my M5 and my mechanic (John from Broadway Auto) was pushing the Supra. We did 3 honks on the highway from 70, and he was GONE in three seconds. All I heard was BBBBLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTT and he was several hundred yards in front of me. It was embarassingly fast and made my M5 look like an Elantra.

guysandiego: I wouldn't make much of it. That is just how it is. Sometimes guys (gals) are game and other times they aren't.

keep prowling, because SD is a great place to come accross some FAST cars. I live in RB and go through Rancho Santa Fe on the back roads and there are TONS of super cars back there.....

To the ones that don't race when they think they may lose: why do you care? I never had a chance to run a Supra decked out but would have in a heartbeat. I'd find it awesome to see one pulling away from me like they are supposed to. So what if I lose that run? Sheesh, even Zo6s lose to E55s on some days...........

I ran a "HKS Supra" last night in my '96 eclipse gsx (pistons/rods/bolts/dsmlink/20g turbo/pump/1000cc injectors/etc/fmic/xtd clutch, and a ton more). Stoplight to stoplight (3am, no cars) I slaughtered him. He followed me onto the highway. From the ramp to 70 I had him by about 3 cars, at 80 he passed me- at 100 he was about 5 buslengths on me.

I HATE TO IMAGINE what he would have done to my e55.

And tscales- don't read the thread if you don't want to hear about street racing. F off.

Notes- the Supra is a friend of mine, we were working the "late database" shift.
