Saw a 212 amg on irvine blvd. today (not thrilled)
I was in my hybrid enjoying over 45 mpg while my AMG awaits another weekend to terrorize the roadways when I saw the new 212 amg. the only thing i liked about the car was the sound. It took me a few minutes to even notice it was an AMG. the will look tiny and the car looked so plain. I was really disappointed with the way the car looks on the street. I was one at the dealer and it looks better parked. I have really come to appreciated the W211 for it's style and character. the 212 was just plain jane to me.

I don't like the front end especially the head lights, no more round head lights
and what up with the tail pipes
Saw one at the dealer and I'm not impress with it at all..saleman ask me if I want to trade my in for it..I said sorry..that thing is butt ugly 
but I do like the interior

Went to my local pizzeria last night and a w212 E63 rolled up and parked right next to me, I thought it was a kid in a Camry with landing lights on his car, only thing that gave it away was the exhaust note. We got out of our cars and he turned and looked at me and said " The E55 is still better looking but this is new and has all the gadgets" I just chuckled!

Drove one the other day, the feeling inside the car was much better than the view of it from the outside... the rear of the car with the pipes and the lines just seem to be off.
Now the interior to me was nice, and the transmission was fast with the 7 speed MCT along with the revamped suspension.

MCT and the suspension change is a good thing. But the styling is not. Also what ticks me off is that all the stuff that was standard is now optional; i.e., Nappa leather and alcantara. The interior is okay but too filled with plastic stuff from the C Class. Overhead lamp cover, no plush side arm rests on the door, etc..
Bottom line is that while they did good changes mechanically, they severely de-contented the car. That's one way to raise the price of a new model.
Aside from all that, the new motors are here and so the W212 E63 is moot. Why get one now? I'd wait.....
p.s., and there are still selling at MSRP. When the motor changes arrive the discounts on any existing n/a W212s should come. Just like the huge discounts we saw on leftover 2009 W211s.

I've driven one a few times and to me, the interior just looked cheap.... it looks similar to the C-Class interior, which is not bad, but had this cheap look to it possibly due to the materials used The interior lacked the elegant curves in the W211 interior.
But once the twin turbos are in, looks (for some reason) become no longer an issue
