I'm looking for good threads about where i can read about what to look out for when buying a E55.I really did not find a lot about that specific topic.

The best advice is buy the newest you can afford. Almost every model year has an upgrade over the last. Common problems are intercooler pump, airmatic suspension, and inability to stop modding

Good Advise about getting the Newest MY.
The Car i'am looking at is a 2003 with 60k miles,one owner local car,traded for a E63 at the dealer where it was purchased.Extensive maintenance record and fully loaded with Keyless GO and power sun shade,Suede Headliner,Power Close Trunk etc.

Cako si brate!2003 is not too bad. The airmatic will eventually go out, maybe the intercooler pump, and supercharger clutch assembly... But other than that the car is pretty solid! An extended warranty will work out in your favor on multiple occasions!

It sounds crazy to believe that the 03's were that bad where i should stay away from them in general.

If it's your DD spnd a bit more and buy a CPO 63. I love the 55k motor too, but if the only one I could find had high miles and no warranty, I'd be sure to set aside at least 10k for repairs.

So your argument is if i buy an 03 E55 i need to make sure to have 10k on the side for repairs?

That's exactly what I'm saying. Obviously you have a budget that you are trying to stretch to get the most car for the money....perhaps you should be looking a something different that is more reliable with less mileage.

I think most people know the first year model of any new vehicle has the most problems that why you should try and avoid them if you can. granted they are not bad but will likely have more HA. the E55 had a long run over 5 years so there are alot of parts , but it has a high maintenance cost so keep that in mind. also mileage is your second enemy , as others have said, by the latest with low miles. if you have 30K try and get a low mile 05 in the 40s-50,000mile range or if you have 36-38 you can even look at some 06s. my personal point would be try and get some warranty or extended warranty then some of the mileage issues is mute if you take care of it. there are alot of knowledgeable people on here to help. i was thinking that if the car has good maintenance records it should be ok.
Even if the car is an 03,im thinking a lot of the problems have probably been delt with already,no?warranty won't work in my case because i'm taking the car back to europe.
