depends on what you're looking for - the valentine is great because of the arrows that let you know what direction you're being hit from, but if you're worried about consistent speed traps and red light cameras - you can't beat the escort 9500 with GPS (I have the latter because in DC, I worry more about the cameras than what direction I'm getting hit from). If laser is a concern, both are worthless - you need a laser jammer (I personally have the laser interceptor).

Passport 9500ix.
The V1 is a great detector because it can tell you the direction of your false alarm.
All joking aside, the GPS function of the passport is worth every penny.

I have the V1 in my E55 and the wife has the 9500ix, both are great I wish I had the features of the V1 along wit the GPS of the 9500ix in one unit though... ummmm maybe there is a market for this.

i have the 9500ix and it works great. the thing i like most is that it hardly ever goes off. i have had it for two months and have only had one true threat detected which saved me. i guess the popo is not out in full force like they used yo be because of the economy.
I have owned a V1 for 10+ years and recently it quit working. It just constantly alerted me there was radar in front of me. I sent it off to be repaired along with a $45 check as requested. Valentine called me about a week later and said it needed a new power cord along with a repair. They ended up just charging me for a new power cord about $20 and repaired and returned it for free. Pretty cool!
I thought about replacing it and found this article to be quite helpful especially the long distance test towards the bottom of the article.

Thanks for the help
I have the 9500 in my truck...the gps actually works really well. Have had the V1 and it was great but the arrows didn't do much for me. I think if you drive with a heightened situational awareness, you know from which way you are being targeted.

this thread appears as often and what oil to use does and it always gets the EXACT same responses...v1 or 9500. unlike other obscure threads that can be hard to find, these ones come up in the search very easily so no help was really required.
i have the escort that came right out before the 9500xi....and it is GREAT! 5 yrs clean driving record and I can promise it isnt because I Sunday drive everyday! Thats with at least 15 cross country trips going home to Louisiana on leave...but if I update....it will be the new 9500 with GPS

I use the mid city engineering module that darkens the controls to the V1 (invisibility is key) and then integrates the info on the V1 head unit to the MB display console, as seen here:

You get what you pay for.
You might find an SRX on line but they are still around $700 used, and install is around $300

LMFAO...what a loser, you sound like andy reinvented. at least now we know you not liking me wasn't just that your "man-crush" andy got banned but the fact my tired old 55 will still put an asswhooping on your little 63 in any straight line competition you can imagine.
as always, please send me a pm if you wish to continue your grudge with me so the board doesn't have to put up with it.
