I just received my Akebono pads by FedEx today. Will put them on in a few weeks. Still deciding what rotors to get...

Yes thanks from me as well. When is a good time to replace brakepads generally? I know sooner is better (like tires) but wasn't sure if you all recommended a mileage range, say before 40k for example.

Thanks.

CLS55 AMG
I slapped on some Akebono's on my CLS55 and LOVE THEM. Squeak free and almost dust free. I mean it is night and day difference compared to stock and they bite nicely as well...too bad I just got rear ended by a van doing 50 while stopped at a light.....looks like I will have to slap on Akebono's on my next AMG

pics in cls forum if interested

FWIW - I just put the same Akebono's on my 2004 E55 and while they have great bite and very little dust, I did get a considerable amount of SQUEEL. I bedded them just a few days ago and the squeel has gotten much better, but I still get some squeel from time to time.

Use the break pad grease on the face between the pad and calipers and there will be no squeel...

Did you use MB grease or the Akebono grease? For some reason, only the rear pads came with grease with the order I just received...

I used the MB paste available from any dealer and not a sound from my pads.
