Snapped belt on E55 ($$$?)
Not sure if this has happened to any of you, or what the cause may be. This happened to my buddies car it's a 03 E55 with 99k km about 62k miles. The belts snapped while he was accelerating from a red light, the steering got tight so he turned the car off and called a tow truck. The indy gave him a call today saying he need two belts, one $40 and the other $80. Also the pipe/hose on the bottom, not sure what it's for but you can kind of see it in the pics, got caught with the snapped belt and punctured it. He said it will be about $300 for that pipe/hose and all said and done about $800 cdn. Does this sound about right? Thanks![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Poor Girl... I remember when I lived in BC for a summer... Everything seemed expensive for whatever the reasons maybe. I just had my SC belt replaced while it was there for a service a and it ran $151.10 American....
And yes I am lazy....

The supercharge belt is around $20 and the serpentine belt is around $50 from genuinemercedesparts.com. Takes a whole 5 minutes for the supercharger belt and about the same for the serpentine (you just need to figure out the pathway... there are diagrams). Not sure what those prices translate in CDN...

the hose he is talking about is EXTREMELY close to the serpentine belt mine actually rubs every once in a while and I will have to replace soon. There is not much room to pull back the hose. I replaced the motor mounts and it has helped the motor trqing into the hose. So long story short if a belt "breaks" it can cut the hose..
