C63 rims on a E55

Hi Im Mark and I am new to the forum. I think this site is great and I have learned a great deal about my car through you guys!
I wanted to ask if anyone has ever tried putting c63 rims on an E55.
Any spacing problems? Any advice you guys have is greatly appreciated.

my E55 is a 20061 I already put K & Ns in, changed the tranny fluid, wrapped the intake tubes with header wrap and already bought the c63 rims. But I think I screwed up, because they may not fit? Too much offset? I just dont know.

the C63 rims are tinny!

you wont get enough rubber on them to keep you from breaking the tiers lose!

but gl :P

^^^ This...They are like an inch narrower I think. They do have different offsets, but I don't know the tech specs. I know getting wheels that will fit 285 on a C63 is a lot harder than a W211 because of the offsets required in the wheel wells...

You could just pull one rear off and do a test fit up..?? I'm not sure that the fronts are all that much different from 211's....

Right, that's a good idea. Im waiting on the rims now, I should get them Monday or Tuesday. A guy at RAB motors in San Rafael said I may have issues
as this is unchartered territory-C63 rims on a E55.

You might need spacer on the back, I think the 09 C63 OE offset is 44mm. I seen 44mm fit on E63 but not sure about E55.

I put E63 reps on my 55 and had no problem plus they look pretty similar to the C63 rims.

Yes they look pretty good. I will probably go with E63 rims if this doesnt work out. I havent seen any E class cars with these C63 rims-I thought it would be quite unique.

2013 Chevy 427 Torch Red
C63 wheels are 18x8F and 18x9R

I bought a set of E55 wheels to use as a track set and they were the same width and bolt pattern as the C63 wheels but the offsets were so different that the tires protruded beyond the fender so I could not use them. Maximum tire size for a 9" wheel is 275 for most manufacturers. My guess is that you will need spacers to clear the brakes and position the side walls properly.

Thanks that helps a lot. I guess my major concern will be the rear tires?

Quick question, why wrap the intake tubes with header tape? What exactly is the benefit as the air coming in is ambient?

I'm missing something here as it sounds like an interesting mod I might want to do?

Thanks!

Alex

Alex I believe it cools down the air tubes, and hence the air coming into the engine-ergo more horsepower? Im not sure if its true, but I did notice before
I did it that those tubes did get rather hot so it seems to make sense to keep them as cool as possible.

Yeah...The cooler you can keep the air coming in the more dense it is, the better the fuel burn is, etc, etc, etc, more power...

More power, more better LOL! Hey do you know what kind of gear oil goes into our differentials? I understand we should use 75-90 GL5 rated stuff but does it have to be Mercedes?

Nothing has to be Mercedes, but I'd definitely with something really good like Royal Purple, Torco, Red Line, I know I'm forgetting one and there are all kinds of opinions about all of them, but they are top level racing proven....

Thanks, I was thinking Redline. I was amazed at the junk that came
out of my transmission when I changed the filter and expect the same with the differential fluid.
