Real Cars
The stock rears on the 65 are 285s which do rub on my car when the car is on the lowest setting. The tires are Bridgestone RE050a's.

I just spoke with a MB dealer and understood the following:

The 05 SL65 wheels come in two sizes 18" and 19".

The 19" are not available in "titanium" (they have no color code listed - dealer beleives they are "painted" silver) part numbers are (offsets were not listed either):
  • 2304014602 19x8.5
  • 2304014702 19x9.5
The 18" are available in "titanium" (color code 9765) part numbers are (offsets not listed):
  • 2304013002 18x8.5
  • 2304013102 18x9.5
Marcus, would you be willing to provide the part numbers for the wheels on your car?

Also,

The wheels that were described as "options" earlier in the thread that look like SL65 wheels are no longer available:
  • 2114001402 19x9.5
  • 2114001202 19x8.5
According to my MB dealership.

I am really looking for the exact wheels that are on Marcus's car...trying to understand what the part numbers are and if they can still be purchased...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a set available at the price of an arm.

These have been one of my old time favorite... in one point in time, I got a hold of a guy in Germany that was selling the original gunmetal paint. I don't think the paint is available at the dealer... I'm looking at refinishing a set of 030 CLS wheels with a gunmetal face.

I've had this set on my car for four years now, front 245x35 rear 275x30 19's. My car has links, never had a problem with rubbing. These wheels look great on a silver car.

Thought some of you may be interested...

I just installed the exact wheel I purchased from MaxH, and went with Hankook Evos 255/35/19 & 285/30/19, and at the lowest OEM sport setting, I get no rubbing, and essentially a perfect friggin fit!

Also...I too use Marcus' picture as my homescreen, as my car is nearly identical, less the spoiler; he saved me the time to take a picture of my own car!

I am happy, and love the larger wheels and tires

They're extremely heavy at over 32lbs each per corner. I recently sold my set of these with tires mounted, and each assembly was about 62 lbs. when shipped. It's a beautiful style wheel, but way too heavy. Think in terms of an anchor at each corner of your car . . . .

I agree these seem to be on the heavy side (just like our cars...LOL)...BUT, they look GOOD! I wanted a sweet aggressive look, and think these wheels do that...I love them, especially on Black!

WOW this is stunning... and the pics looks like your car came right out of the showroom , actually better. Do they fit directly on the E55 with the SL tires or u need to down size a bit for the rear?

Hi Marcus! I couldn’t figure out how to attach a screen shot to a PM so I’ll just reply to this and hope you get it. In the PM you mentioned you didn’t have any problems with rubbing. However, your quote above mentions rubbing on the lowest setting? How low was the lowest setting. My car is star lowered about 1.25”-1.75” in the rears depending on speed and suspension firmness mode. I want to be sure I don’t rub either. Thanks for your feedback.

This is the post that inspired be to do the same wheel swap. Tires are 255/35/19 and 285/30/19 Pirrelli P1 Corsas. These are the standard SL65 tire sizes. To answer the previous post by @nardeezy@yahoo. , at stock/untouched height settings, the rears will rub slightly over dips and aggressive bumps in the road at all suspension settings (C, S1, and S2). It's not too bad and I've simply dealt with it. Maybe one day I'll have the rear height adjusted up by10-20mm as I believe that's all it would take to alleviate the issue. My driveway is on a sideways slant so that's why the rears seem to be more tucked in on the driver side. Bonus pic of my GN below.

Looks bueno! Do u think the rubbing has more to do with the tire size in the rear? Do you think it would still rub with a 275/30/19?

I rub with 275/30/19. I have CLS55 wheels, specs are identical to the AMG Style IV multi-piece (rears are 19x9.5 et 28). If you want no rubbing I suggest looking for a set with lower offset; I believe they came with a less aggressive offset, in the 30s if I remember correctly.

I have a set of the 2 piece wheels with 10 inch rears...I don't think they'll work too well with the 211 chassis

19x10" +28 fits on my star-lowered 211 E55 w/o issue. See below. I run a 275/30R19 that barely touches the inside upper lip on the LR, only due to the squat from throttling the car ALL the time. There is zero noise from this contact, it's just enough to touch the raised lettering on the sidewall.

285's would eat the fender, clearances are that close. 275 is slightly narrow for a 10" wheel, but does not look stretched in my opinion.

Car should've had these from the factory. Love, Love, LOVE these wheels.

Do you think rolling/pulling the rear fenders would eliminate the rubbing?

I would assume so. The contact is so minimal on my car, I didn't care to open that can of worms.

I have these wheels on my 04 E55, and they are gorgeous. I had thought of selling them at one point but that was just temporary insanity.

They are in need of a little refurb. Has anyone taken a set of these apart? Are they simple 2-piece wheels? Is it as easy as unbolting the spokes and fixing the lip/barrel and spokes separately?

I'm sure this is a dumb question but this is the first multi piece wheel I've dealt with.
