Tune, Plugs, Trans Fluid, Diff Fluid and Dyno
My E55 recently had its 50k mile service. Its was $$$, but needed since I hold onto my cars for a very long time. I got my E55 in early 2005, when it had 10k miles from prior owner. As soon as I got the car, I contacted Cory at Kleeman and had their K2 tune and products on the car. Since then, I have had other products on the car. In spring 2009, I had LET / EC's tune put on the car. I have had great service from both Cory at Kleeman and Jerry / Tom with LET / EC. Before the recent threads about tunes, I already scheduled the 50k mile service. I asked the Master Tech at the Dealer to keep my plugs for me so that we can review it together. This is the dealer tech that works on almost all the AMGs at the dealer and is very familiar with my car. I took pics of the plugs, which were the original plugs on the car from the factory and gone through the K2 tune and LET / EC tune. I am posting pics of the old plugs in the test section:
https://mbworld.org/forums/test/342829-test.html.
The Tech knows me very well and knows how I want to know as much as possible. So he spent about 10 minutes with me going over each plug (which is a long time just talking about plugs) and telling me that the plugs look normal, nothing wrong and nothing showing any indication of problems. He assured me that the plugs are normal and nothing wrong. This is consistent with how the car has been running. I took pics of all 16 plugs to share will all of you.
I also took pics of the old and new transmission fluid and the old and new diff fluid. The Tech told me the fluid looks normal, nothing out of the ordinary but that it was time to change it out. I previously had the power steering and brake fluid changed out last year. I also had the car dynoed when LET / EC was in town for the most recent tune of theirs. The plugs, fluid and service were after the dyno tune. I am on the conservative side so the tune was a conservative LET / EC tune but the car is strong.

NO doubt that proper scheduled maintenance goes a long way towards durability. I just had my brakes flushed (replaced with Motul 600), my tranny fluid changed, and new sparkplugs. I'm at 38000 but it all seemed prudent since I've personally put 20K on the car. I should check the diff fluid soon. Thanks for reminding me of that.!!!

Thanks for sharing your experiences with the forum. ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
On the dyno graphs - Is EC one color, and Kleemann the other? It wasn't very clear what we're looking at.

This above link was the dyno back in 2007. The 2nd time the car was dynoed (after the K2). I never got the a/f info for this dyno, forgot to ask at that time.
Here is the first dyno before the mods.

You mentioned other products were added after the K2 tune, and before the LET tune, just curious what mods those were?
Nice to see a 500whp wagon out there ruling the streets.

Yes, same plugs during K2 and LET / EC tune
Someone asked me a question to which I will answer here and share with everyone. I was asked if the pics of my plugs are in fact plugs that were on the car during the K2 and LET / EC tune. The answer is yes. I got the car when it had around 10k miles on it. I have not changed the plugs since I got the car. I do not know if the original owner had the plugs changed. The plugs you see in the "test" link have been on the car since 10k miles through +50kmiles. I got the K2 tune starting around 13K miles and LET / EC tune starting around 42kmiles. The plugs are the same ones during the K2 and LET / EC tune. I hope this helps.
P.S. If anyone has a comment on the plugs, good or bad, please let me know. I know what the tech told me about the plugs but if any of you have comments, please share....good or bad. Thanks.

I cant view the dyno graphs but why did you switch from the kleeman tune and what increase/decrease did you get from the other tune? Was anything else changed except for the tune at that point?

I wasnt really switching tunes, as the K2 tune was, at that time, what Kleeman offered. I read good reviews and feedback about LET / ECU and how the reviews and feedback was good over a good period of time and decided to go with them given the additional mods beyond K2. The additional mods after the K2 are in my signature. The LET / EC tune is a very conservative one from LET / EC, as that is what I asked from Jerry / Tony. Posts 4 and 5 reflect the dyno with the current mods and LET / EC tune and Post 15 is the dyno with the K2 tune and K2 products.

Same car, +LET/EC tune, VRP 80 mm TB, VRP CF Airtubes, Renntech CF Airbox, Larger HE and pump, Quaife LSD: 507 rwhp, 542 rwtq
Interesting. The last three (HE, pump, LSD) help performance but won't add power. However, I'm a bit surprised that all the other mods amounted to essentially zero additional power output (variations of 1-2% could be several things, and are inconclusive of a measured improvement IMHO).

In the end, sounds like the car's a beast though, and you're happy with it - which is what's important
