brake question..
what do I have to do to keep my brake from overheating on a road course.
In a 5 session day. after the 3rd session the brake overheat warning light stays on. and I have to drive around the padock like a idiot for 15 min after each session.
I have stock rotor and amg brakes. Porterfield RS4 pad.
I know Evotech rotor might help..

hell yea.. It kick ***. well, I am in group A...
I think it handles really well. it was corner balance.. 51f/49r 50/50 side to side.
behind me is my friend's yellow 996. the funny part was after the session. they came up to me with instructor saying "F$#k, we were trying really hard to keep up with you" and he was CHP cadet.
BTW.. also pass a 997 GT3 RS..... It was a new car, first time tracker.....

Can explain further about the sensor? You mean the sensor was broke and you were really not overheating the brakes?

To OP: Are RS4 really little noisy when cold? I am planning to get new pads, but can't decide what do I want.

A Prius because I'm green
I took just my regular E55 to Thunderhill and everyone kept asking what else I had in the garage if this is what I was using as a track car haha. Some Subaru guy came up and said man you came around turn one, I saw a puff of smoke and you were gone! My stock brakes had no sign of fade but they were burning my hand when I would check the tire pressure between sessions if I wasn't fast at checking it. What track did you take the wagon too? Did you have a baby on board sign hanging in the rear window?

a quarter mile at a time
I wonder how the overheating sensor works. 2-piece floating rotors will perform better, but only from the perspective of that they are lighter. I think the biggest problem you're running into is just the sheer weight of the car itself. At around 500 lbs over the sedan, that's a lot of weight for the brakes to stop. My suggestion would be to explore some form of brake ducting. Routing some ducting into the wheel well area right onto the caliper would probably go a long way to keeping your brakes in acceptable operating temperatures.

Do some trackdriving with my wagon to and have exactly the same problem.
Tryied new oil and ceramic pads but still the same problem. So next step will be 2-piece rotors. but i think it's like "e1000" said we have the weight against us.

Holy smokes, am I the only wagon that is not track driving? I am starting to think that if you own a E55 wagon you must road course / track drive!

About that, they had us going in reverse which slowed me down. Still I was surprised how great she came out of the corner, I wasn't worried about her kicking out at all. I was beating a Dinan M5 though haha!
