iPhone/iPod and Rev App
Hello all,
Not sure how many people who frequent the W211 AMG forum also view other forums on this site. I recently purchased the KiWi WiFi OBDII tool and the Rev application for the iPhone and have started a thread about it. With this, I am able to view air intake temperature (IAT), boost PSI, EVAP, timing advance, RPMs, MPH, fuel usage/average, voltage, and much more while driving (in addition to being able to view diagnostic codes [both current and pending]... I am not sure if it allows to view MB specific codes as of yet, because I don't have any trouble codes). If you have any questions, please feel free to post them in the Audio/Electronics thread and I will try to answer them.
I am using this in an 06 E55.

Is there any debate as to accuracy of these products? I am assuming it could replace custom mounted gauges for much cheaper and without having to cut into anything or have wires/awkward mounting locations. Seems liek the way of the future. Have an IPAD permanently available under the seat and log EVERYTHING then email data for analysis. I love it!

Everything I have seen thus far is very accurate. I did a comparison with FUZZYCar and the numbers were the same...

if this truly logs, we might have a great future ahead on our platform. Now only if we could flash our cars with something equilivent to the vagcom on the audi platform.
edit - log air/fuel? If so, i'll be ordering an iPhone or just use my ipod touch I guess. The iPad under the seat would be awesome ha.

I have been getting a lot of questions on what it displays/records. So, here it is:
PERFORMANCE: Speed, RPM, WHP, Torque, Acc., Throttle, Lat. Accel., Fwd. Accel.
AIR/FUEL: Boost, IM Pressure, In. Temp, Barometer, MAF Rate, Fuel Pressure, Fuel Trim (SB1, SB2, LB1, LB2)
ENGINE: Fuel Consumption, Cons. Avg., Fuel Level, Engine Load, Timing Advance, ECT, EVAP Pressure
I believe that under the Performance section that the Acc., Latl. Accel., and the Fwd. Accel. are calculated directly from the iPhone utilizing the GPS and/or Compass as well as the accelerometer.
I am waiting/hoping that tuners can expand on this functionality. Imagine being able to update your ECU on the fly for different driving conditions (e.g., track vs. daily driving) and do other minor tweaking right from your iPhone!!!

Our cars do not have the AFR data available via OBD2 so no data logger can read it without a dedicated wide band sensor connected to the logging equipment. A typical wide band sensor is about $200 and can be easily installed in the exhaust somewhere.

PLS also sells a lot of different sensors that are compatible with the Kiwi WiFi device...

I have this and the data logging rate is slow. I was told there are 2 data streams on MB one fast and one slow and the Rev choses the slower one. Other than A/F everything is delayed. I was very bummed out about this needless to say.

I think the data logging rate is fast enough for most of the users here. Remember, Rev is an application built for multiple vehicles, not just MB. I am sure that they went with the route that is compatible with the majority of vehicles. And my RPMs, speed, and everything else is spot on! I don't think it is slow at all...

Ok I have played with it for about 15 min and so far its awesome! I now have a boost gauge! Driving around town at about 3/4 throttle im running 11 pounds, kinda cool. It gives intake temps which are very cool, I will report back with more info..so far its very fun, I need an Ipad to have big screen like gauges! now that would be awesome!

Yes, I forgot to mention that in my initial post. When I ordered the device, I was hoping it would come with a free download of the application; however, it does not. There is also an application called DashCommand; however, I have not tried this application yet...

Horsepower reading is very accurate I think its about 3 whp off from my dyno chart. I launched it once and did data logging and it uploads to an excel sheet. Very neat. I did a zero to 120 run and recorded it all. Spun through first and second (need to lower psi in new tires) and my max boost was around 13 pounds. The only thing weird was that max boost was not at max hp?!

have you guys with the Kiwi gotten any Check engine lights and if so, were they easy to clear?
I don't even have an ipod touch or iphone but I figure I would be able to use either of them in addition to the Kiwi.
SOMEON PLEASE PUSH ME OVER TH EDGE!
