SpeedDriven's CL65 does 188.5mph and SL600 does 197.8 mph at the Texas mile!!!

Both cars tuned by Speed Driven Inc in Palatine, Il (will discuss in more detail later) performed flawlessly. I believe these are both records for a Mercedes Benz in the standing mile. At first I was very hesitant to accept this new "tune" Marcin had for me. I finally gave in after being able to hit "only" 185 mph the first day. This is with the same power my car had run 10.70's at 129-130 before. It did as I expected and was ready to call it a day. I didn't want to go through the hassles of taking my mirrors off or lowering the car, but rather see what it performs like in real world conditions. So Marcin finally convinces me to try his new tune out. Next pass.......188.5 mph. I guess it works! I can't wait to go to the drag strip!! And NO! I'm not letting you put the old tune back in it!!!!

JC's car (soulsearcher) ...one word......WOW. I got his permission to pilot it down the standing mile and what a treat that was. 198 mph! And the official "boot" from the event for lack of safety equipment required to run over 190. A fully street driven car that drives exactly the way stock 600 does except when you mash the throttle! Those upgraded ball-bearing turbos are no joke. Full boost comes in before 3000 rpm and it keeps increasing power past 6k. I think this car can hit 200 mph in the mile with a few tweaks. The engine felt smoother than my stock turbo'd car......maybe due to less backpressure? Either way, unbelievable car. Hat's off to Marcin, this thing is a work of art

The 600 makes much more power due to Speed Driven's upgraded ball bearing turbos.

That's a really impressive gain for just an on the spot canned flash (in the Mile Event those extra 3.5 mph mean a lot of HP)

Thanks! I don't remember reading anything about a standing mile in that article featuring MKB's V12, but rather the speed achieved.

Custom Headers, 100% spec'd BB turbos with super low AR ratio, Upgraded fuel pump sustem, custom fuel injectors, custom fuel rail, insane amount of hours on ECU AND TCU software, custom cold air intake, vrp850 intercoolers, TiAL BOV & external w/G, 6 gallon low profile res. tank W/ Dual cm30 pumps, serious re-piping to make for space needed,For example, I lost my headlamp spray wash system

It was all worth it at the end! I don't mind loosing my headlamp washers for a few extra hundred HP

No need for Bonneville. They'll be maxed out before the mile marker by October.

+ 1 I can't even remember the last time I used my headlamp washers, I'd happily dump that option for more HP!

A stock tired SL600 has a theoretical top speed of 210 mph based on its 2.65 rear, .83 5th gear and 6K redline. It looks like the car is running on 305/25/20's out back. This only bumps the theoretical top speed to 211 mph. I'll assume that the car has enough power to be limited by its gearing. So are you saying you will hit 210+mph before the end of the mile.. if so let me say ....

Tom
