E55 then E63, now back to an E55
Halogen are old style yellowish.... (think 1980s cars here)

Xenon are newer (like 2000 up) Acura - BMW - etc
Appear much brighter - typically like a bluish or mostly white.

Stand outside the car in dark. Pretty easy to notice.....

Do they dip? The Xenons do a quick dip towards the ground and then back up when you turn them on.

Colored bulbs can and will fool

Preferred way to tell is to pull a bulb. Does it have a filament or not?

In Canada,
If the car has headlight washers, it has bi-xenons. No exceptions.

Look for washers.

Not necessarily true. Mercedes discontinued xenon lights in 06-07. The lights you see now are high efficiency halogens. HID's (aka xenon) were an option in 04 and 05.

If you cant tell by looking at them just pop open the hood and there should be red sticker warning you of high intensity shock from the High Intensity Discharge or "xenons"...

I have xenons and at night they look nice but for example, a new lexo can pull up next to me and completely engulf my lights and outshine me. And then you know what happens

This is incorrect. Xenon's are still an option on Mercedes cars to this day.

I agree with the head light washers, also you can run your vin in the EPC parts catalog and look at the datacard. http://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/

Don't. I've seen cars with headlight washers and no BIX. Was listed on the sticker as a separate line item.
