The Beast is gone, E63 in the house but not the E63 you think!
After 2 1/2 years of fun filled ownership (a record for me as I haven't kept a car for more than 14 months since '97), I reluctantly shipped her off last week to a forum member in California. ![Tear](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/tear.gif)
In here place is a shinny E63 but this one says M6 on the back.
She is a 9 month old Sapphire Black over Black Merino Full Leather with every option aside from Soft Close Doors and Enhanced Sound with 2,400 miles on the clock. She also has a 6 speed manual which I wanted as while the SMG is truly excellent, I wanted to be able to shift myself and blip my own throttle on the glorious 40V V10.
Impressions so far...This is an amazing GT coupe with an interior that makes my GT3 (now sold) with full leather interior look cheap by comparison. Much shorter and wider in person than you would think and overall sits lower on my garage wall than the GT3 by a hair. Gorgeous body work and a marvel of 8,200RPM revving V10 under the hood. The carbon fiber roof and interior trim is very well done and far superior to what Porsche offers. The craftsmanship of the leather covered interior panels and dash is easily on par with any Italian car I have owned. Driving her is a blast, this is a great machine to just cruise but find a twisty road and she will rip it to bits. The M6 is no race car but very much true sports car and a considerable jump ahead from the M5 which I have never cared for. Low end torque around town is adequate but the M6 really opens up like a ballistic missile over 80 and NEVER stops pulling. High-speed stability is almost unmatched making this a car that I would not be afraid to operate at it's claimed top speed.
Things I miss about the E55? The auto trunk closer (really miss that actually) and the 0-30MPH performance as after that, it is a wash with the M6.
I need to get some pictures posted.
I had also seriously considered the CLK63 Black but it was just too stiff to be a daily driver (also had trouble getting past the cheaper interior even though luxury is not what this car is about)) and the SL65 which is the straight line king of the road. As much as I love the SL65 in all regard and will probably still go for one in the near future, the M6 is just a more enjoyable drivers car and has a very engaging quality.
I hope to see the new owner of my Beast post some pics here as I never got to it.

Congratulation, it's a nice car! If you seriously considered a CLK Black Series, I'm surprised you chose the M6, since the CLK is by far better handling in the corners.............trust me, I own both. The V10 sure sounds nice, and hangs beautifully on the throttle from 5000 rpm on. Have fun with it.
BTW, it's the "Merino" full leather interior.

I did seriously consider the CLK Black but it just wasn't a good fit for where I live. It is as stiff as my GT3 was and both are FAR too stiff for the roads of Denver. There are pothole in Downtown Denver every 10' and my morning commute spans 3 miles of dodging to avoid them through a 35MPH zone (not a flattering environment for a Black Series).
Absolute cornering performance does not interest me as my Formula Mazda will pull 2+ G's in a corner so the last thing I need is a race car for the street when I have one for the track.
For me it is about the whole package and as you know, the M6 is a great GT car. An SL65 will probably make it in the garage in the near future as that is another great package. But after a run of impractical exotic hardware that I couldn't drive on our streets, I have gotten a bit more practical in how I choose cars until I move to Dallas, California, or Scottsdale were the roads aren't garbage. It is terrible being a car enthusiast here but it could be worse.

Thanks guys!
I was hoping the buyer of my E55 would post up with pics as I had never done it but we will see.![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)
As to switching over to the dark side, I have owned just as many M cars as I have AMG cars and that will likely never change. Not to mention that I stepped up for the first factory AMG when it came out (the C36), and then the fastest at the time when it came out (SLK32). The M and AMG devisions both build world-class products that are unique in their own regards. It makes me crazy when the AMG guys bash the M guys, and the M guys bash back as it is comparing an apple to an orange as they are such different philosophies.
I will not be going anywhere and look forward to modding my "painfully slow" M6.

Thanks, I fixed the typo (typed the post early in the morning).

Not sure if the roads are any better in CA ..............but I understand where you coming from
. I made my Black Series even stiffer, but I like it that way and it's not my daily driver. It's easier in the M6, you can change the suspension settings electronically. The M6 is more of a compromise compared to the CLK, which makes it in my opinion a much better car for daily driving. I ordered mine with every option incl. SMG. The only thing I still can't get use to is the HUD. I try to remember but still look at the gauges, especially when I get on it. Like you said, the interior is beautifully done with all that leather and has even more carbon fiber than the Black Series. It's a great car and you'll be very happy with it. Again, congrats!!! One thing though, make sure you always have a quart of Castrol in the trunk, as those V10's LOVE oil ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

The HUD is great and I know some people don't like it. But with it on, I actually can see something as I never look at the gauges as I always have my eyes in front of me.
I here you on the oil. It also needs a portable gas pump as it is probably the worst fuel pig I have owned but I didn't buy it for economy.
BTW, Nice collection oy toys and garage.

The 6 series is a great car- if it wasn't for the damn v10 and SMG I'd probably follow your lead ( I miss my old e39 m5 alll the time), that said- I'm pretty sure I'd miss the 4 doors
Congrats!

Congrats, The M6 was a good 2 year car for me. The exhaust (modded) is just like a concert...
Its a completely different experience IMHO than the E55 I had--- I could be sleeping in the E55- mash it and it would wake up. The M6 to me is an 8/10ths or more car. I liked it but others that dont want to live in the 6k-8k sweet spot would probably grow tired of it.
Any mod plans?

You're going to love her, especially if you've already gotten over the idiosyncrasies. I'm personally a huge proponent of the SMG but if you're happy with the 6-speed then more power to you.
I carry 2 quarts of oil in the trunk because it's a PITA to go back to the parts shop every month. Higher mileage = more oil consumption. It's the price you pay for 8,000rpm goodness.
