Hey all, I'm a current 540ia owner looking to upgrade to a e55 amg. Is this a good buy? If so what should I look out for? What should I expect in maintenence ? What about after market warranty?I have one on my 540 and they covered everything,but they have made me a little nervous sometimes, slow to pay etc.... Thanx Ken

I've been watching these cars as well...that price seems to be what they go for. Watch Autotrader also-alot more cars there. Never seen the blue accented black interior before. It's surprpisingly attractive ! Can't help you with the maintainence, but I need this info too.

 

Maintenance? What to look out for when purchasing? I think a search of the forum is in order.

 

seems reasonable but you would like to know more on the history if you can. MB records if any. what recalls have been done. but I would go and look at it if it had all your features you want. pano , nav are more costly.

This one is pretty loaded as far as options go - do a PPI as others have stated and see if you can get the Chrysler 5/70 warranty after a dealer checks it out. Check with the seller to see if those are Authentic AMG rims.

Iautohaus has some of the best cars available hands down. I almost bought my E55 there, but it did not have panoramic roof. I would not hesitate buying from them whatsoever and speak to Jeremy, the short bald headed guy. It looks as though that car has had the front end updated, so I would check to see if it was just changed or if it were in an accident.

 

I do plan to negotiate or (wasp) them down.I have also heard great things about these guys. I am a little worried it won't last ,it seems a little rare.
they also have a BMW 550, anyway I'm going over this morning. I love my 540 but I get bored every 2-3 years,and something about that e55 makes my senses tingle. Of course if they don't want to give me anything for the 540 I may have to back off.Anybody know someone in the market for a great 540ia ? Tell em its a poormans M5. Ha

Well I put a 1000.00$ deposit on the e55 amg. I have till monday 6:00 pm to make final decision. I do feel the car will be gone if I didn't put a payment to hold it.The car is actually in the service dept with front bumper off to adjust the headlight, and yes it is a upgraded e63 bumper
put on by previous owner. I wont pull the trigger till I test drive. It is very unique vehicle with its 2 tone leather, pano roof,drive dynamic front seats,heated and vented seats etc...So by monday I maybe on the mb fourms instead of bimmerfest!

I went from a 540iT with the VF Supercharger kit to the E55 Wagon.

No comparison. None.

E55 hands down. It's a beast!

 

Great to hear ! Do you know what a e55 radiator is made of? Is it plastic?

 

I was just buy there today, the car looks nice. It has the same interior as my car, the dark blue and light blue leather combination is awesome! Some of the cars sit there for months and some sell fast, so it is kind of a roll the dice type of deal if you do not buy it. They will probably give you decent money on your car or they will come down a lot on the asking maybe to 31k. GL

Take a close look at the E63 conversion as most were put on after light front end damage but you want to make sure that the car wasn't in a hard front end hit. That being said, they E63 conversion is the best mod I ever did and I could not own another E55 without it.

 

Well the front bumper is still off,so I haven't even test driven yet. They have assured me the front bumper is a mod not a accident coverup. The test drive before me picked up a small rattle noise right front bumper. Missing a clip. Ordered it wont be in till tomorrow. Don't know if I should be worried or happy there holding car for me.?
