Fuel tank
Hi guys,
just had a big bill for fixing my '02 E55 fuel tank. I put it in the workshop because there was a strong smell of petrol in the boot (trunk) when the car had a full tank of gas, and sometimes I would come back to the car to find a puddle of gas on the floor too.
They found a crack in the plastic tank above the rear axle and leaking fuel sender and pump units. The crack was repaired, as was leaky pump, but had to replace the sender unit.
The shop reckon this is a very common fault with W211s, and they showed me a further 2 in their shop for the same problems. Anyone here had these issues?
Regards, Ray.
