Silver to Black
Friends,
I have a silver E55 and it looks $ imo. However, every time I see a black E55 I honestly regret buying the silver one. I just got such a killer deal on mine I couldn't reist.
So, please share your thoughts on both colors and what you think about doing a paint job. Has anyone here painted their silver ride to black? Any advice as to where to go and where NOT to go and why?

Definitely DONT do black as a DD. I personally wanted silver (so I wouldnt have to worry about keeping it clean). Black looks great clean but I literally have cleaned the car and by the time I had finished toweling it off, I could already see pollen on it.
Also, don't paint it unless you know you're keeping it. If you you really want a black one - sell the silver one, keep all the add ons and buy a black one - the price hit you'll take by doing that may be very similar to what it's going to cost to paint it (and the subsequent additional depreciation you'll be taking as a result). Also, factor in a clear bra, a circular polisher and a couple hundred for the detailing polishes/glazes waxs etc. I would do the wrap before I would paint it. Either way - good luck!!!

I had a black E500 when i changed to E55 i just wanted pewter or silver.
Its really hard to keep it clean specially the water spot. Blk looks more aggresive but you got to wash your car every 2 wks.

dude go silver with black wheels....looks great and cuts down on the cleaning tremendously! 
Remember once you go black you don't go back ...yipes !!! hahaha
...unless of course you go vinyl wrapped then you can go back pretty easy!

Every two weeks? More like EVERY WEEK. But, I'm hooked on black cars. I'll put in the necessary elbow grease to keep it clean.

There is nothing more beautiful than a perfectly detailed black car. There is also nothing more demanding of your time. Black can look horrible which is more common than not as people generally do not have the time/skill to keep it flawless.

I saw a black wrapped SL at Universal Studios a few weeks back. Horrible! Peeling everywhere. I'm sure it had a lot to do with the install but another problem to contend with

I'm with you Lady! I wash my ride once a week and hand wax once a month!! Day time it looks clean but at night with all the wax it looks HOT!!
So that's what I'm saying, if I keep my silver clean I should have no problem with black.

Mercedes are supposed to be silver 
Don't paint your car, it will cost you a fortune and make the car worth less. Do a matte black wrap for a fraction of the price and when you get tired of it or sell/trade it you can just remove it...that's my $.02
