03 radiator -- Chrysler Factory Plan
Guys,
the issues around the 03s (built pre 9/03) radiator are well documented.
Few questions
1. are all 03 radiators (velaro) bad, is this leak/tranny destruction going to happen, or is it a wait and see type issue?
2. since this will be covered by chrysler, should i just let it ride and see if im effected somewhere down the line, or should i go get it check out before i have any serious issues?
thanks --

I had one done for $125. Waste of money in that the problem can start the next day. Buy a new radiator and be done with it. I got my genuine MB radiator for $580 at parts.com. Also good time to flush tranny/replace filter. Also, with radiator out, perfect time to upgrade crank pulley. I did the 180 asp. With the radiator out and the crank tool handy, the pulley swap is 30 minute job max. Even with a warranty waiting to pick up the pieces if you're hit with the problem, do you really want to go through the hassle, lost time, etc.? A plus is that your cooling system will be closer to max efficiency with the new radiator. And your car will love you for it.
