E63 heat shielding the intake?

So i know guys with the 55's are wrapping the intake tubes and I was looking at my motor the other day. I did notice the tubes do get fairly hot to touch. Then I stuck my hand on the underside of the intake box, above the valve covers, and it was uncomfortably hot. I didnt check but im sure the Y snorkel to the TB gets just as hot.

My idea was to wrap all these things in the gold heat shield. Im sure we could get 15* temp drop by doing this is guys were seeing a change just doing the tubes. Anyone try yet?

I've done this on my other cars, but not the E55. It will lower your air temps and help a little, just not sure how much.

Minimal help I would think, though it's never a bad idea I know these motors heat soak eventually, but I've run back to back to back runs with the 3rd being fastest (and some semi-long staging lines)

I had it all wrapped !

I personally think the ceramic coating of the headers and the thermal wrapping is what keeps my car so consistant .

We had run my car at least 20 times at one track rental and it stayed between 12.0-12.1 all day .
