What you guys think of the wheels? I sprayed them myself and for $25 I could'nt be happier. This is going to be my daily street setup except I am going to replace the Pilot Sports outback with 265-40-18 Mickey Thompsons. This week I am getting a limo tint job, carbon fibre roof wrap and side mirrors, and 30% front wind sheel tint.

My show wheels are coming in soon and I will debut them here within the next few weeks. Once again, crappy camera pics.

Looks good! If you don't mind could you share your process with us. I have some ugly a$$ chrome stockers that I hate using due to that fact. I would love to paint them and possibly use them from time to time.

How about with chrome wheels? Is there a process that needs to be followed in order to get the paint to stick or will they standard primer be sufficient?

Hey is your AMG badge a little to the left?

You need to strip down the chrome not a simple procedure, sandblasting should help.A Body shop should be able to help you out.

I used this order:

I washed the rims
Sprayed them down with autozone break cleaner and let them sit for 10 minutes
Wash the rims again
Towel dried them with a micre fibre towel
used rust o leum auto primer that is sandable, half a can per rim so it was nice and thick
used rust o leum matte black wheel paint, again half a can per rim

When spraying I was about 14" from the rim so that it basically just dusted the rim and did this what felt like a hundred times, lol. The whole process took roughly a day and I let it sit over night after all the primer was sprayed before I started the matte black.

The amg badge is not skew, just the angle of the pic.

For longevity, I would recommend sanding down the wheels first prior to the primer. This will ensure that the primer will adhere correctly to the wheel and prevent premature flaking down the road. A simple spray clear coat would also help the finish last longer.

Chrome is really easy to powdercoat though...Had that problem with the bumpers on my truck, and the guy I took them too said it was the easiest to powder...

I thought of clear coating them but I did not want them to have any gloss appearance to them at all so I just sprayed half a can of primer and matte black instead which was over kill, but none the less I am happy.

Yes, It is it's 1 inch too much to the left and it needs to be closer to the taillight.

Proof

Also Look at BelaMeca signature post #9 in this thread THE G of AMG is a fingernail diagonally from the taillight, looks at your G.

It's not an angle. The badge is just too far left, just pointing it out so you can fix it

They do make a flat clear paint which will protect the black better.

yes I did spray them with the tires on, and could careless whether the badge is not in the perfect location. it is straight and in the right fascinity, so to me, that is good. limo tint is coming up this week with a CF roof wrap and side mirrors.
