Does anyone have shop diagrams for the various e55 fuel systems they can download and post here?
I have been searching the boards and there seems to be limited, and somewhat contradictory, info out there.
I am having trouble chasing my lean gremlin and would like a bit more info before I start throwing parts at the problem.
Thanks.

Doing the math up front (% larger injector) and if lucky, you can just adjust the whole fuel scale by that %.. Then maybe just a couple minor adjustments.. Most tuners have no problems adjusting for larger injectors, at least the good ones. These ECU`s have some crazy adaptive programs though.. Like a brain of thier own..

Do E63 injectors flow more than E55? I havent found the info in a brief search.

Thinking of changing my fuel filter now...

another challenge is getting a good idle. Larger injectors may not be able to flow low enough to idle. If you set the pulsewidth too small, injectors just don't open. So during tuning you go from running way too rich to just not running at all.

If you need way huge injectors, you may have to play with supplemental injectors or variable fuel pressure.

Thanks to Shardul!

Got these sent via PM (you the man Shardul) and thought I would post in the interest of having the info out there...not trying to thread jack...lol.

This appears to be the fuel filter/sender under the drivers side rear seat:

This one seems to be the fuel pump assembly under the passenger side rear seats? It looks as if there may be two pumps there???

Anybody have part numbers for the filter or pump(s)?

This thread is about fuel, so no jack felt..

Hadilaw just texed me and said that puppy for the e55 is 350.00 bucks shop cost!!! Ouch! This E85 crap can assist in eating up seals , gas tanks and other stuff too.. At leas that is the rumor..

I can tell you that mine filter poured out nasty black gas! 50k miles and I am carefull where I fill up.. I only use Shell and stick with semi new stations..

Mine was 40 bucks list and 10 minutes to change.. The CL got a break finally on something..

Fuel filter is a damn important part on these modified engines, so don`t overlook it.. I am kicking myself for not checking it and for assuming it was changed on my motor rebuild..

I've been running E85 for a total of about 30k miles with no problems in my evo. No corrosion in the fuel tank, no "gunked up" injectors, no fuel line problems, etc.

Do you have any issues in the winter months or cooler weather?

Very true.
Fortunately all 55's use Bosch ME 2.8 ECU's which have enough flexibility to adjust idling if a slightly larger injector were to be used.
Though tuning would still be required to properly dial them in.

Also another interesting thing, the E55's (and I assume all 55K cars) have an easily accessible outlet on the fuel rail to test for fuel pressure. I assume some sort of MB tool connects to this, but I am wondering if an aftermarket sensor could be fitted. It appears to be a simple AN fitting.
Anybody have experience with this?

Yes, but you dont need a MB tool to test fuel pressure from the fuel rail. Most shops have a pressure testing kit that has an assortment of fitting to cover mosts application.

Initially I did, however this was resolved through a combination of scaling the injectors better and enriching the cold crank. Now it fires up fine even during the rare 30-32 F. mornings.

e85 will not normally hurt any newer EFI vehicle. I run it in my 91 isuzu impulse with no problems and one day I'll tune the benz to run on it!

Also, a device that I would highly recommend if you are running E85 is an ECA (Ethanol Content Analyzer), due to the varying percentages you will get from the pump. I have yet to fill up with E85 from the pump and get a consistent reading; sometimes I get E70 and sometimes I get E90. This is due to the way that gas stations receive their E85, which is they get a fuel truck of 100% ethanol that pumps ethanol into the fuel storage tank and then the top it off by HAND with regular gas until they get it near E85. Of course this method is not the most accurate and this is why I found it very important to purchase my ECA after scratching my head, wondering why my car would sometimes run pig rich or lean.

130k miles, I don't think the fuel filter was changed ever. Just placed in an order for a new Bosch unit. My car was bogging down so much losing power.

I have a zeitronix logging unit with a pressure sensor hooked up to the fuel rail. I see up to a 10 psi drop under WOT but never faced a fuel problem up into the 185 pulley with cams. I now have 50k on the car and I'll soon be changing out my fuel pump and all that other good stuff.

Just recently I witness a E55 having huge fuel issues with the car going extremely lean at the upper RPM's. Once the fuel system was replaced with factory parts fuel was no longer an issue. His fueling problem was a 10x worse than mine and honestly believe this will fix my problem.

Here's a log of one of my runs. This was done late last year with a mix of 91 and 100 Sunoco oxygenated race fuel. You'll notice that the fuel pressure is 65 psi at the top of 3rd.
