That's a lot of miles with no warranty. If you're buying it because it's $39k and that's all the money you have, then you might want to think more about it.

If you have a budget of more than $39k, then you can bank the difference for future repairs. Say $10-12k. But if you're skating on thin ice money-wise right now, then not a good idea, imho.

Whatever you do, be absolutely certain to get a full, no expense barred, ppi done on the car first.

If the other one was a dealer car, I would've said choose it and to make sure you add the maximum extended warranty you can, which is an additional $4k for 3 years I believe. However, since it is a non-dealer car and is out of warranty, then it may not be a very safe car to purchase, as repairs may become very costly.

If you can go for a 2008, that maybe even better because of additional warranty coverage.

No warranty at all..?? I didn't know they had in-service dates as early as June 2006. That is a lot of miles, though my drivetrain has been solid as a rock. It's the other little things that warranty has been great for. I guess one good thing is that if they did all the recommended service you missed a lot of service cost around 40-50K miles. Dunno though, I'm wary to even keep mine out of warranty, just because the stupid little stuff costs so much to fix. Like I said though, drivetrain has been awesome..!!

so everyones opinion, is do not buy, unless you can get full warranty, from which i can see is a whole new question to who has the best one, and since this has quite high miles, i may not be able to get warranty.

thanks for all the imput.

I'm not saying DO NOT buy, just be a little forewarned that some of the nice little gadgets on the car do develop problems from time to time. When they do, it can sometimes become very expensive. Take for instance, my rear sunshade is not working right now. It's been diagnosed I just need to get my car back there to get it fixed. I have no idea what this actually costs since I still have warranty until 12/10, but I'm guessing it's still not cheap. From what I can tell on major operating items (stuff that can leave you stranded) there are not a whole lot of problems with these cars.

I'm not sure the CPO car is worth 10K more, but the piece of mind is sure nice

Everyone says buy the warranty for as long as you can get... given the model has been around for several years I would think the bugs have been shaken out? I get that if the ABC (not sure right term) suspension strut goes, fairly expensive but things like a rear window shade if done at an independent shop probably $300~500? Seems like you can fix a lot of nagging little things for the $4400 I was quoted for 2 extra years at MBZ.

Curious what others' experiences have been?

Airmatic suspension on these. A little easier to fix and more reliable than ABC. At that, yes the suspension pieces are $$$. Yeah little stuff can get fixed for a relatively low amount of money, I have just had a lot of little things malfunction. Nothing that has really taken away from driving my car, just little nagging problems. Congrats on your buy Vince..!!! I know I sound like Debbie downer, but I honestly LOVE MY CAR

nope 58k isnt too much, its a good amount dont get me wrong

i would def make sure to get a warranty

and certainly look around for lower miles, if you have your heart set on the 63 it will be tough to find low miles for a reasonable price

but if your willing to get a 55 ... you can def find lower miles for a very reasonable price ... and even after buying the warranty you will have $$ left over

plus you'll have more torque than you'll know what to do with

not to mention how easy mods are with forced induction, i have not made any changes yet, but i will

i found my 03 55 with 29k miles on it earlier this year, divorce sale ...

Don't rush into it.... be patient and find the right car. There are plenty of cars on the market

On a side note, my local dealership showed me an invoice of over $17k of repairs spent on S63 (all covered under warranty) over the course of just one year

Thank God for warranty

Do yourself a big service, and get a warranty. You will be thankful that you did, when your car needs repairing. These cars are loaded with electronics, and they stop working after awhile, and the cost can add up quickly. just be smart about your purchase, don't let the dealer talk you into it, without doing your research first. WARRANTY IS A MUST ON THESE CARS.

honest mistake, I actually had to check to make sure I had my numbers straight, my wife's Infinity is 4yrs or 60k miles.

it would only suck if you showed up at the dealer with 51k miles and a problem, and started demanding service.......

Someone once was babbling to me about pre existing conditions..? Like you take it in to get a bunch of stuff looked at before the end of warranty and then it's a pre existing. I called BS, but who knows...

Worse yet, if you show up with 51K and a problem, they diagnose it and call you with the quote or repair it and you come back to a 3K bill to get your car back...

Lots of cars out there fellas, as with any car deal, you have to be patient and find the right car. The best cars with CPO warranty on mercedesbenz.com make the best choices. Each dealer selling the car you want will come down to a reasonable price. Problem is, you are looking at a high price on the internet and saying to yourself, that's too high. Just go through and mark every car you want down by $10-$15K and start your dealing. You have to work the stealers....

Def a strange color for an AMG. Green will be a tough resale later down the road, too.
