Failed torque convertor
My 2003 E55 amg has got problems with a torque convertor main dealer said it needs replacing can anyone help as the car has only done 68000 miles , is that the right amount of miles they do before they start to fail main dealer wants £1700 to do the job plus i have the infamous valero radiator which could go at any time and been quoted £400 for that so just wondered if there is a cheaper option or do you think mercedes might help , thanks for any comments i may recieve .

Is that for a proper rebuild or just a torque convertor replacement?
Had all the work you have mentioned for half of what you have been quoted at an independent auto transmission specialist, which included changing all the clutches and the 55 box has quite a few.

Thanks for your comments yes am from somerset in the uk and yes lots of shuddering and vibrating still not sure where i can get the work done will try a few gearbox garages to see if they do torque convertors mb just quoted for a new torque convertor and fitting i think , sorry dont know anything about a high stall converter perhaps you can fill me in , many thanks .
