Stock manifolds

Hey buddy, a month or two ago someone had posted pics of the stock manifolds and they are ridiculously restrictive.

My stock B18 off my old acura manifold looked like it could push more air through it than one of these E55 stockers, really ridiculous.

+1 on LTH, and of course a tune will make your modifications perform how they should, whatever they are.

My girlfriend, pretty much guaranteed I would get some action the other night.... To bad because it just didn't happen.

Kind of like all the promises the tuners make right?

So, you're saying Jeremy does not speak the truth?

I watched him tune a couple cars at Jap Trix in West Palm Beach and he knows what he's doing. I decided to leave mine stock.....for now.

Play time beckons. Continued tomorrow.

With just a stand alone tune, no other mods, 50whp is not going to happen on a run of the mill 55k motor.

If I have a budget say $2,500 what's the best stainless steel headers set-up out there, that doesen't require a major chop of the existing set up...

By the way resonators have already been deleted...

Any and all long tube headers you buy will need you to remove the primary cats. If you don't mind, then go for it!

I've done my research, in the field, where it counts. All my Hot Rods have had headers for the past 40 years so I'm familiar with the results.

I'm not beyond being enlightened however, so show me a dyno sheet with a 50HP increase with headers on a STOCK E55.
I understand you've done a lot of research on many cars, but results are different on the 55k platform. The stock system is so bad and so restrictive that even shorty headers end-up producing some good power. Over the years, I think we've seen a good number of 55k cars gain 30 to 40 rwhp with a good set of long-tube headers (and of course more with a tune). If you do a search here, you'll be able to dig up many of the dyno sheets. We're not trying to trick you or sell you a particular set of headers man, these are all findings from different members and different vendors

Maybe he is talking about a 100 octane tune I know the regular tune will give you about 20 hp and maybe a much more aggressive tune (100+ octane) may net an additional 20 to 25 hp or so

My car is completely stock and I will be doing headers for my first mod and will post the results without a tune and then a tune from Jeremy.

Nice! I assume tune from Jeremy and headers from FF....

To the OP, go with some good LT's and you'll be very happy with the gains. LT's have been proven time and time again to gain substantial amount of power, both peak and under the curve. IMO a tune will be worth the time and money to get the most out of your LT's.

As for simple bolt-on headers, I don't think such a thing exist but than again I could be wrong. Header seem to be somewhat of a time consuming install from what I've seen and read. Good luck with the build and I look forward to your results.

Daymnnn, you guys must be bored to let one troll comment deserve so many replies.. Now he is going from headers to tune.. You all will be busy tommarow chasing the 50 hp tune comment.. Have fun!

OP, go with LT`s and have a new mid pipe built for the heders. Then just keep the stock stuff intact. No need to use mid tubes, as they require a mid pipe wor or hacking stock pipes. Evosport makes the best shortie headers that you can use stock exhaust with.. Maybe 50% less power gains but easy..

That's what Jeremy said was possible with just a tune. I assume every car is different and he was probably quoting his best results but still, that's a huge gain from a tune. All the tunes were on a dyno so yes, it was to the wheels.

Not going to beat this dead horse any further because for me at least, LT headers would be at the bottom of my list of mods if I had a budget to stick to. My first mod, (if I was inclined to mod my car), would be a PULLEY and TUNE. Second mod would be THROTTLE BODY, and lastly, headers to get the most out of my previous mods.

At the cost for LT's plus installation my cost/benefit ratio meter is barely moving.

It's been an interesting conversation and I'll concede some impressive gains based on the dyno results posted but, I don't think any of them showed 50HP. Close, but not 50HP and I suspect some of those cars were not BONE STOCK.

I GUARANTEE with our header kit you will make 40 or more wheel horsepower over stock. So much so, That we offer 100% money back if you don't.

I'm a big fan of all the other mods you mentioned, they do indeed make power. When it comes down to it, Its all about air in and air out.

If some place down the road, you choose to do long tube headers. They will make you a believer.
