Oil in surge tank, should I be concerned?

Had the surge tanks off to trick them out a bit and noticed oil near the tube ends, where they couple up back to the engine. nothing around the outlets on the flat side. Only inside the lower tube end of them.

Should I be concerned?

Would an oil catch can fix this?

Thanks.

unfortunately it is normal for these motors and yes, a catch can will cure the problem and something i run and recommend.

Are we talking lots of oil of just a build up coating? If its lots of runny oil then I would look into that. If its just oil build up on the inside I wouldnt worry about that to much. Im most cases its just crank case ventilation though the recirculating valve.

I've seen surge tanks that run catch system have almost no oil build up on the inside. Where as most of the stock ones I've seen, including my own have some form of build up inside them.

spray it would with some brake parts cleaner and that should clean them up nicely.

Really not too much of an oil build up or hard residue. They actually looked fairly clean inside.

When I removed them, there was enough oil to wet my finger tip hung up on the ledge of the coupling and the edge of the surge tank tube..

Consistent on both sides.

When you pulled the surge tanks off you seen oil around the gasket area? If so thats normal too. If the oil finds its way under where the surge tanks mate with the supercharger runners. There comes a point where the air flowing through the surge tank wont hit the oil enough to gum it up. So it stays wet.
