2009 E350 or 2006 E55. Both CPO
2009 E350 CPO
20k miles
fully loaded with Pano and AMG package
2006 E55 CPO
40k miles
fully loaded no Pano
If I pick the E55, 2 extra years of warranty will set me back an approximate $5k, but browsing this forum, I feel that it's 100% necessary. So the E55 will be 5k more with 3 years of warranty versus the E350 with 5 years of warranty.
Family and friends are telling me to get the newer car, but they don't really know anything about cars. I really want the E55, however the thought of driving a 5 year old car for the next 3-4 years turns me off. Also, reliability is huge with me, since my C63 was a lemon. I don't feel like going to the dealer every other day. The E350 looks great, however the performance leaves lots to be desired.
Which one do you pick and why? Thanks for any info.
Also, the E55 is only missing the pano roof, but you probably won't have time to look out of that when you're doing sub 5 second 0-60 bursts anyway...
Hope this helps.
Good luck with your purchase either way
And tbh, the interior of the 2006 and the 2009 E class is basically the same, so the idea of a 2006 shouldn't turn you off any more than the thought of a 2009.

For a CPO? I don't think so. Sure you can get a non-cpo car for 30, but I don't mind spending a couple extra bucks for peace of mind. Haven't seen a 2006 CPO with 40kmiles listed for less than 37k.

The E350 was the most boring car I have ever driven in my life. Seriously.
The steering was numb, the motor was noisy (V6) and it wallowed and wandered around like a Buick. The tranny shifted as fast as an overweight bulldog running away from the neighbor's cat. At WOT it sounded like a John Deere lawnmower.
Get a BMW 5er and at least have some fun on the back roads.
But if you want sedate, then get the E350. Just be prepared to no longer enjoy driving like you used to. And be sure to drink a lot of caffeine.
The best thing about the 55/63 is that you can play blue-haired Grandma if you just want to cruise around lazily. You'll still have a super comfy ride. Or you can drive it like an axe murderer, and toss that heavy weighted sedan into the corners with ease (especially the 63 with the updated handling/steering.) And the 55 will give you the option for tuning and mods (not so much the 63.)
The 55's torque alone will keep you wanting to wake up each morning.
ps., curious as to why you want to get back into a Benz if you lemon'ed your C63???
and the e350 was FULLY LOADED with AMG package and pano roof.
it was white with a pano roof so you know it looked good but thats all it did, look good.
e55 is a monster and its a pleasure to drive for people like us, car enthusiasts.
i was also thinking about selling my car and getting an e55.

Neither have I, but I did end up getting my '06 with 30K miles for a little less than $37K through negotiation down from $41k area, also with 1 year CPO and loaded with pano.
I would try to get this for $35K if I were you.
