Need new rubber, down to three choices.

So im looking at either of these for a new set of four from tirerack.

1. Dunlop Direzza sport z1 star spec
2. Hankook Ventus V12 Evo
3. Bridgeston Potenza RE760 Sport

What would you choose?

Hankook gets my vote. Best wear, best value, very good dry/wet traction.

Haven't tried any of those but heard some good things on both the Direzza and Ventus V12.

These are eating up tracks all over America as we speak. Just be for warned, they DO NOT last long. Great tire for the track

And of interest, they are only sold at tirerack as of 6/24/10.

Just ordered a set for a track stang, and had to go to tirerack.

I agree with the Dunlops having the best overal traction but for our E55's that aren't meant to rip up corners, the Hankook's are the perfect tire.

According to C&D...the Hankooks came in a close second to the Dunlops overall:

I'm going to consider the Hankooks now.

I have potenza RE760 on now, pros with these tires are good for large load vehicles like ours.. great in wet/dry condition and good tread life. cons are non directional cant flip tires to extent longer tire life due to camber wear, Loud road noise.. the dunlops are better tires and it has one more pro over the RE's is directional.. but lose tread life by 140.The hankooks i never use them before but if you get a good deal jump on them and let use know!!

Are you really set on just these three tires? A good alternative is the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanata. I have a set of those on my M3 and they are as good as the PS2 in dry, and better in wet.

One last note:

The BEST all around tire, ie tread wear, dry traction, and wet traction is my old faithful the Goodyear GS-D3, NON RF.

Almost as good as the Bridgestone PP's for the track
THE BEST performance tire in the rain
And very good in the longevity department.

Don't right them off.

Good luck

I've got a few thousand miles on the Hankook's and absolutely love them. Switched from the Michelin PS 2s, (which I also love) because of the price. Can't tell the difference anywhere but my wallet.

Continental E C DW and Bridgestone Potenza RE 960AS are both great tires with pretty much identical scores wuth the following exceptions

Continental ECDW: scored higher in snow and icey conditions.
Potenza RE 960 AS: scored higher in steering response.
They both scored similar on wet/dry traction, cornering feel, ride comfort and road noise.
I am oredring my Potenza's tomorrow

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
I prefer my Toyos to my prior Hankooks, themselves good tires. The Toyo's hook up better in the dry. I do not believe the Direzze's were available in the size I was looking for a little while ago.
