Display Malfuntion Visit Workshop

Ok.. so here are the two threads last year where I was having this intermittent problem..
https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...n-cycling.html
https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...lfunction.html

The problem is it came back.. it was fine all winter, but as soon as the hot weather came back in, so did this weird problem. Any new idea's? I brought it to the dealer last year and it never failed in front of them. It's about to go back in next week but i'm sure they wont see it again since it's so intermittent.

This problem only happens once or twice a week, but here is what happens when it does happen.
Always:
Parktronic red LED's beep randomly
Instrument Cluster shows "Display Malfunction Visit Workshop"
Sometimes:
A/C sometimes cuts off for 3-5 seconds at a time
lumbar support/boulsters in the seats will inflate
ambient lighting will flicker on/off at night
Ebrake/SRS/ABS lights flicker
Display Malfuntion Visit Workshop-c1500f7f.jpg

edit: I doubt its related, but worth adding, the COMMAND system went blank the other day and won't turn on. Audio page on IC shows "-----"

Similar issue a while back.

When I drove the car (I'm 6'2") it never happened, but when wifey drove (she's 5'2") all hell would break loose.

AC would cycle on and off.
Command would cut out
Windows would not work
Keyless control would not STOP engine
Weird error messages in the display

She swore the car hated her (perhaps her lead right foot was the car telling her to back off )

It took a while to figure out, but came down to the Drivers seat SAM module.

The dealer had the car all day and could not intially figure it out, but then finally when they did a full front to rear seat transition a few times (I'm memory button 1 she's button 2), it showed up as a faulty Hall Sensor/SAM module for the seat.

Warranty replacement and not happend since.

I also have the random parking sensor beeps (front only) with the red lights on. Havent figured out whats causing it since it is intermittent and hard to duplicate.

Interesting.. I'll mention it to the service rep.. It really is weird how one small module can effect the entire cars operation

Hi there, lightningfast7.

Did you went with this problem to your dealership? And what did they say? I am planning to do it this month but I was very interested what the problem was at your car because i really have exact the same problems as you describe. I do'nt have an e55 but a normal E320 w211. I'll hope you're still on this forum and I will check my mail 5 times a day to see what the problem was on your car...'

It's weird because it looks like you are driving my car with this whole list of problems!

Greetings from Holland,

I'll hope lightningfast7 will react because some people told me that it also could be my SAM module in the trunk... and if it wasn't that... the problem could be under the drivers seet.

Actually, it hasn't happened since I had the COMAND unit replaced. It may be be a coincidence, however, since it was an intermittent problem. I'll make sure I update this thread if anything changes.

Okay thanks lightningfast7, I will check it with another command system and if there is my problem i'll post it here to this thread... My command has sometimes (one time a month) his problems with power or something. The screen won't lightning up and i see some weird stripes in the display. I will let you know if it worded or not by replacing another command.

Thanks

Mercedes E320 W211
03 W211 SAM Module

Hello,
New to this site. I have a 03 e320 (w211). This past weekend my serpentine belt and tension pulley broke off. Has that replaced, but now, I have none of the following:
No turning signals
Fuel gauge not reading, stuck on empty.
Trunk not working
Need to be real close for security to work
Defroster not working
Screen is reading "Display Malfunction Visit Workshop"

I have read the forums and it reads that it could be a rear SAM Module. Can someone please tell me, if this is an expensive procedure, is it cover under warranty and do I definitely need the dealer.

Thank You,

I have a similar problem just yesterday.
My battery went flat, they said it's the alternator, that the engine was washed with water and the water sipping into the alternator killed it.
Now I had the battery recharged and replaced. Now the trunk isn't opening, no turn signals light isn't working, the reverse light isn't working... etc
I was wondering if someone could help with an advise....

Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same issue as of right now on my 03' e500. This problem started happening after I got the car back from the electrical shop.

The first issue was that my battery was draining, come to find out after I took it to the shop the cause of the battery drain was the front passenger seat module. They unplugged that and I drove the cart home.

Ever since that I have that intermittenting problem where my car won't even turn over.

Can the fix be simply by just replacing the seat module ?

Central gateway module

I just had a similar issue, the ac would shut off, interior lights turn on and off, multiple errors (visit workshop, ESP, SRS restrtaint defective, Speedtronic - drive to workshop, display faulty, coolant stop engine, ABS) on display, speedo and odo stop working.

It was the issue with the central gateway module. I replaced it and it had to be programmed. This solved all the issues.
