The 4.6 will make more than a couple people think twice about an AMG I bet...

I effin' LOVE that matte wood finish.

And as the OP said, that new non-AMG engine may draw some AMG customers into standard MBZ vehicles...and why not.

On the plus side, if the NON-AMG TT 4.6 is this much of a monster, we know the 5.5tt should be incrrrrredible.

It would be awesome if Benz would offer the AMG suspension/brake package on the new E550, though I highly doubt that will ever happen...

There's no way they would start diluting the AMG brand that much. Cosmetics are one thing, but to use AMG components like that would risk diverting from AMG sales. Daimler is spending big money developing and promoting the AMG division right now. And don't forget they haven't officially 100% owned and operated AMG for very long.

Same issue with BMW's M division. Cosmetics only on non-M works cars. Allowing the brand's cosmetics actually functions to promote the division and attract more interest.

That wood trim in the CL is pretty amazing looking. Probably some rare and endangered boola-boola wood chopped down by a previously undiscovered tribe living in the Amazon rain forest or something.

Actually, it would be even better if the E550 just came with a steel suspension, then you could do it all yourself I wonder if they are going to put this 4.6 or the 5.5 in the new C AMG...I'd almost vote a 4.6 to save weight off the front...

True, but BMW doesn't have to alter their original chassis to make an M the way MB has to change the front suspension out just to make them handle decently. There sure aren't many people modding C350's hahaha.

Yeah, maybe not as dramatically an alteration but the M3 has a totally different suspension than the 335i. According to BMW, suspension geometry including individual suspension components completely differ. Settings aren't the only thing different. Entire suspension is different...larger mount points, springs, reinforcements, arm sizes, bushings.

There was a thread a while back about a guy in Germany doing a M3 suspension retro fit on his 335.

My replacement for my E63 is going to be a steel spring suspension car once again. Airmatic is the best for a comfort ride, you can't beat it. But I want to have the choice of modding my chassis. I want to be able to use Motons or Bilstein, etc.. I don't care if I have to go under the car and physically change settings. But I do want more choice in chassis tuning.

All the wood is either ash, walnut, or poplar:

"in accordance with Mercedes-Benz' corporate philosophy of sustainability, the CL-Class uses only European wood from renewable forestry sources. Most of the wood components are hand-made and matched individually for color and grain by experienced craftsmen."

OH yeah, I hear you. I did not know the geometry was entirely different, just thought all the components were. Funny you can make a 535 and 335 handle as well or better than their M counterparts for not too much coin.

My replacement is also going steel. It's looking like an IS-F right now, for the amounts of mods and price of them. Love the C63, but I don't love it enough to pay that much to mod it, and I think the Lexus has a better interior. Motons I'll probably throw KW V3's on the F...
