Race Fuel advise
I'm going to hit the track soon and also have a 1 mile event in august, can/should I throw in some race fuel even though I don't have a tune for it?
Thanks
Paul
Ps, car does not have cats.

96 and 08 911 turbos
its not going to do anything for you unless you tune for it or currently have some detonation/pulled timing.
If you're worried that the high IATs will cause detonation and reduced timing, you can throw some in there.
Regardless of your lack of cats, avoided leaded race fuel as it does a number on O2 sensors.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but race fuel or a mixture will give you better detonation protection than normal 93 or whatever is the best pump gas you can get on your side of the pond. If this is the only reason, it is worth running. I think your car will run a bit better on it even without a tune. Some will disagree. the stock ECU should tend to pull timing less because of the race gas mix.
I often run a 50/50 mix of 93 and 100 race gas. My ECU is tuned for 93. I think the engine revs slightly quicker. My car will hit the rev limiter on occassion when I run it. I think the TCU is not anticipating the slightly quicker revs and is shifting a bit late. After five or six runs at WOT, the TCU seems to adjust and shifts on time.

At the 1 mile event last year the car struggled in 4th gear, it was really hot. I have allot more power now and it looks like its going to be even hotter this year! I will run as much ice as poss hopefully that should help IAT
The best fuel here is 99ron (Shell V Power) is this better than you guys get over there?
My car runs a kleemann tune and has all the bolt ons but cams.

Apparently in the US we use AKI rating for octane.
I found the below conversion on the net.
USA (AKI/PON) --- Europe (RON)
87 = 91
89 = 93
91 = 95
93 = 98
Shell V-power is all I run except when I mix 50% Rockett brand 100 unleaded race fuel for track days.
