The Stig of Top Gear FINALLY ran the E63 212 around the track and looky looky.
They were doing a Camaro shootout but when they posted the
times.....LOOK where the ultimate driving machine came out.

It's a great time and don't get me wrong, I really like the w212 E63 (and would seriously consider buying one), but Top Gear tested a 2006 M5 (probably with the ****ty Continental ContiSport2's that it came standard with back then). Now they tested a 2010 E63, so in four years, that's the best MB could do? That's a little disappointing.
I did the AMG Driving Event a few months back and took the W212 E63 around the track, it was good and markedly improved over the w211, but not that impressive.
When the new M5 is released, we'll see how the lap times look.
BTW, did you guys notice how it was faster than the CLK63 Black Series as well?

AMG has done a fantastic job in improving the handling of the W212 E63, but to be fair, the M5 comparison is kind of outdated since you're comparing the latest/greatest 2010 E-Class chassis to the now-old M5 chassis. I think the true comparison will come out when both twin turbo models come out as both cars will be fast in a straight line and in the twisties

If you boil down what we all like about the AMG's its not the lap times, it is the American muscle car similarities. I don't personally care about horsepower, I like torque.
Bimmers are great when you have a perfect track. AMG's are great all of the other times....and they are better looking
Don't get me wrong, i love bimmers, i just like my E55 a lot more.

Seriously, despite the looks, the new E63 is impressive. There will always be those the will balk at superior machinery. Nice job AMG.
As the only cars actually on the road right now are the old M5 and new W212, the comparison is valid. So when there is an encounter should the W212 guy tell the M5 owner they should both wait until the Beemer owner buys the new M5? Rubbish. Especially since a new AMG is also on the horizon. One thing about the Top Gear rankings I do not feel is fair are the rain times. All should be done in the dry.

That's untrue...please post all facts and figures to back up the W211 E-class besting the E60 5-series and the C63 lapping faster than the E90 M3...I very much doubt they exist other than for the dragstrip...as for feel, no comparison, but AMG is certainly improving and offers a torquier experience with easy speed on tap

CLK 63 BS and 5 other AMG's takes out E90 M3 their fastest track car. But who wants to drive a little 3 series anyway.

'09 E63 AMG sedan (sold); E36 M3, E90 M3
Buy the car you like, and dont get bogged down with any "comparos." I had an '09 E63 with Quaife LSD. I didnt care for how it handled, maybe it was just too heavy and large, or whatever, so in less than a year, I sold it.
It was replaced with a 2011 E90 M3, with new competition package. This car is more to my liking.
Anyone who gets caught up with 'this one is faster or handles better' is a fool: both are great. Yes I know the comparo is the new 212, but no matter, the same truth holds. All these referenced cars are great. Buy the one that speaks to you!
