LOL, the guy said his motor blown up and several others. I cannot speak in my own experience, but that is what I have read several times.

I had a LET tune on my car. The PO had installed it. After talking to some people on this board, I decided that I wasn't quite comfortable with it and switched it out. It turned out that was a good decision as when my tune was logged, it wasn't exactly safe,... unless you like tons of timing and lean conditions at wot.

I now have an OE Tuning tune and couldn't be happier. That being said, do your homework and go with who you feel comfortable with. I also would recommend purchasing a datalogger for your car once you are tuned/pullied/etc.

Guys, related question for you here. I will be installing my 180MM ASP (Not Eurocharged) pulley next week and currently have the Stage 1 EuroCharged Tune, which I've been very happy with.

Once the pulley is on which ASP says will deliver +42HP, per ASP's website, should I just keep my existing Stage 1 tune not to take any chances? My concerns are now, given the posts here, if I have EC retune my car with the 180mm, which they'll do for free, I risk the motor.

Or does putting on a 180mm with the stage 1 tune do something odd to the engine? I went with an ASP pulley to make sure there was no, "Pulley Wobble."

Also for those of you with a blown motor do you have to pay for it out of pocket to replace it, or does warranty/extended warranty cover it? How much is a new motor on these things anyway?

Thanks.

Perhaps i am crazy but i would never run a different pulley size without tuning for that specific size for any extended period of time. I retune my car after every significant mechanical change or addition. A 180 is rather significant. Box tunes and "guessing" boost, AFR, timing, etc. is probably not advisable.

Yes I will definitely retune as soon as the pulley is installed, just wondering if I should go with Eurocharged or OE?

Thanks.

Wow. I was considering doing Eurocharged upgrades and having them tune it since they are supposed to be moving to Houston (about 4 hours away from me). After reading this and a few other threads about their work I'm on the fence about it. I might just go safe with either the Renntech or Kleemann direction.

I can only go by my experience. OE Tuning did an amazing job for me and many of the long-term respected members of this forum. I was going to have eurocharged do my tuning as well but after extensive research and speaking with the members of the mbworld community i used jeremy (OEtuning) and i have never loooked back. I am sure there are many who have used eurocharged and are completely happy but I trust my car to the person responsible for having tuned the fastest on the forums and perhaps in the USA. if its good enough for them then its good enough for me.

Gotcha thanks for the OE recommendation. Just sent them an email asking if they have a tune for the E55 with the 180mm pulley installed.

Thanks again.

Block with fitted pistons is $15000. Add labor and the rest of the parts and it's a $25K rebuild. If you replace the complete assembly. It's well over $40K.

As for Eurocharged accepting responsibility, well they don't.... Yet

EUROCHARGED JERRY/TONY etc.. completely denied having to do with my issue so I had to pick up the tab. It did cost me a few bucks to put back together but i bet is costing them 100 times more for not doing so!!!

I doubt anyone would take full if any responsibility as far buying you a motor and that includes the extended warranty company as they would look for every possible reason not to pay.
