The fact that you're no longer covered by the factory warranty tells me those prices are pretty fair. I was quoted like 4k while still under factory warranty. My local MB dealer resells the Fidelity as well as the MB extended warranty, so you might be able to get other quotes if you hunt around.

Thanks. But anybody know which company is better. I am not expert on comparing all the detail on teh contract. but it seems like they both cover the most expensive parts of the vehicle.

The devil is in the details. Get copies of their contracts and read through. It's worth to spend the time for that amount of money.

Third parties are never as good as factory backed. The problem is, is that these warranty companies are like football teams, beer or cars. Every person either loves or hates one, and loves or hates another. In the end, you should try and read as much as you can. In these forums, you'll find people who have had nothing but problems with Fidelity, and some that have never had a problem.

Interesting. How can you buy E55 warranty from Lexus dealer? Do you know if anybody can buy warranty from them
If it Is that is 3rd party warranty. Which company?

I'm guessing you would have to buy the car itself from the Lexus dealer to be offered the warranty, and in most cases, the warranty would have to be purchased at the time of purchase. Acura offers the same thing. If you buy a car from them (whether an E55 or any other make), they would offer you the Acura warranty for that car, and it is actually a very decent warranty.

I bought my car with 11K miles on the dial and it was still under MB warranty. I purchased the 48,000/4yr plan for $2500. They asked for $4K or some such, if I remember correctly.

I may have to disagree with the factory backed warranty being better. If it is an MB warranty, when you bring the car in for work, it is money out of their pocket and they treat you/the car as such. I've been using my Easycare warranty and the SA looks at it like an open checkbook to find things wrong with what they cover and go in and actually fix stuff.

+1. Great point. When my car still under factory warranty. they never told me anything wrong with the car until i point it out. after i got 3rd party warranty. things totally chagne. They dig all problems on my car. sometimes i doubt if the probem really exist. but as long as they fix the probs. i dont care....

You can't compare the price for the SL500 and the E55. The warranty that we sell charges a $1000 surcharge for AMG and a $400 surcharge for a supercharger.

I still content factory is better. They know the car, will only use factory parts, and have the history of the car. It's up to you as the consumer to insist things get done. Again, read the details. Many third party warranties have terms that change when your car leaves the factory warranty. That's why everyone LOVED the Chrysler warranty. Too bad we can't get it anymore.

I love my easy care warranty.. However I only ended up paying around $2,500 for a 3 year/36k warranty on my '05 w/ 48k miles. I'd do some more shopping.

I have an easycare "total care" package, 3yrs 36000 ($250 deductible) miles that i paid $3200 for. I have used it serveral times with no problems. Highly recomended. Was the quotefor the regular or total care package. The total care basically mirrors the factory warranty excluding the interior.

Easy care prices went up in March 2010.

They were warning me about this since January. I currently have Easy Care and they have covered everything.

However, here is another little trick you may have not thought of.

I bought my car cash.

However, I found that I could get a 3yr 36k warranty with all the same coverage as the easy care for half the price from my credit union.

Catch..... They will only offer warranty on cars they are financing for you.

So I went and got a $10,000 lien at 4.1% and I am sitting on a full coverage $100 deductible quote for a 3yr 36k miles warranty.

Price: $3600 almost half of what EasyCare will do for me as an existing customer, and this is a Platinum FUll Coverage program.

So there are other ways to get these warranties.

Oh yeah, i have a 2003, with 71k miles on it.

I note that the Easy Care warranty specifically excludes in Section E any damage caused by pre-ignition or detonation, regardless of cause.

This would apply to all their contracts, even their TotalCare package.

Crap, I just refinanced mine for a 3.79% just for cashflow purposes and didn't even think of this. My Easycare ends in November so I'm on the prowl...

Factor in $700 finance charges over 3 years and you are at $4300,still not bad.

Dont pay finance charges

Why pay finance charges?

The month after I get the warranty, I am allowed to pay the loan off.

There is no prepayment penalties.

By then, I may have incurred 3 months of finance charges of about $65.

This warranty crap has been driving me crazy since I bought the car. My whole goal was to secure another warranty before I could decide if this was going to be a long term car for me. Now it is.

Really though, any owner must understand the best investment on these cars is a warranty. They are a blast when they work right, hell when they don't!
