Could I beat this stang?
Guys,
Question for you. A friend of mine just picked up a 2006 Ford Mustant GT 4.6L V8. He took me for a spin and I was impressed. Below are it's mods and at this point I only have the Stage 1 Tune from EuroTek. (So 30+ more HP and limiter is gone.)
My guess is we'd be very evenly matched but what do you think his HP is and do you think I could beat him in the quarter mile or up to 150MPH?
It's a sweet ride with only 28K miles on it and he picked it up for $20k!!!
Lastly with the 180MM pulley, upgraded HE and a Stage Tune from Eurotek installed could I beat him let's say up to 150MPH?
Discuss.

- Saleen Stage 1 Supercharger (5psi boost I think) it's they lowest level S/C that they put on their 281 mustang kits
- CAI
- Functioal hoodscoop
- JBA headers
- MSD 36lb injectors
- Modified Exhaust (Not sure what kind but it's professionally done)
- All tuned to work together
- Lower gears
- Automatic tranny
- All professionally installed
- 285/35/18 tires (not sure what brand but they definitley looked grippy)

He will be making right around 410rwhp with that setup. That is good for a 12 flat in the quarter. It doesn't take a lot to get those things into the 11s with a sticky tire.

I would say on the 06 he is making more like 440rwhp range and I bet since he has a auto he went with 4.10 gears, coupled with drag radials will dip into the 11's easily. That car will also top out WAY before 150mph, lol. Once they hit 5th gear, they are useless. My guess is it will be VERY close until you get your pulley and new tune.

Gotcha, thanks guys. He took me for a ride in his and then came back and I took him in a ride in my E55. Both seemed very close. His gears are very low were it shifted 3 times (into 3rd from first) all while driving relatively slowly up to 40MPH, which adds credance to it toping out way before 150MPH. My E55 seemed geared much higher so I over 100 MPH I might be able to start gaining on him.
I had a Mustang GT 5.0 myself for 9 years but not having been in one in years it's so fun getting back into one. The difference between the E55 driving experience and a blown 4.6L is dramatic. His was incredibly loud (exhaust) and the car rocked a bit slightly at idle. I love it but it's a completely different driving experience, very....brutal...for lack of a better word, but still remarkable. Our E55's even tuned are still quite...civil....like a muscle car in a tuxedo, which is what I was after when I bought it.
The stang though, it is refreshing getting into a car that makes no bones about it's goal to just look, sound and go like a bad ****.
Thanks for letting me know how I'd stack against him.

I just beg you....in the name of all that is sacred. DON'T BEAT YOUR CAR RIGHT BEFORE YOU RACE. So many of our guys mess around on the highway back and forth and then slow down and finally race and.......well you know the rest. Kill city.
Good luck bro!

Roger that! No heat soak for me! Technically he'd suffer from the same thing as he's is S/C as well and I will race him from a stand still.
It will be a good/very close race and I should be able to pull on him past 100 MPH for sure, assuming I'm not slighly ahead at this point.

if he's properly running an aftermarket s/c then he's likely coupled it with an aftermarket i/c as well which means it's probably far more efficient than ours! I never count on cars heat soaking like ours...

Excellent point. Below is the link to his S/C and it is intercooled. For some reason I though ours was too, or are we just air cooled?
Link to the S/C he has on his stang: http://speedlab.saleen.com/store_con...roduct_id=6988

we are intercooled...but it's an air to water set-up with an undersized an fairly inadequate i/c core that just can't keep up with the demands of prolonged wot (especially if we're over spinning the s/c).
