E55 V-Belt Options w/Part Numbers
As there are a number of Crankshaft Pulley Options, I have found it difficult to determine which belt is right for which application. Can those of you who have larger pullies share your thoughts?
Pullies:
168MM
175MM
180MM
185MM
Belts I have found listed for E55 applications:
ContiTech (For stock E55) 8K1289 50.74" (Same as Jaguar Belt)
Dayco (Stock Part #) 5080510 51.0"
Dayco 5080515 51.5"
Gates K080514 51.4"
Gates K080525 52.6"
Goodyear Gator 4080510 51.0"
Goodyear Gator 4080515 51.5"
Goodyear Gator 4080525 52.5"
So here we have a 2" difference from shortest to longest. I know that if you go to big you slip, and too small you shread.
What is best with a 180MM pulley w/ Smaller water pump pulley?

I have a 172mm pulley and phenolic spacers. A Gates K080514 just shreds for me while a K080525 seems a little long and occasionally under heavy acceleration pops off.
Anyone have any suggestions for this application?

I based my estimate simply on length and symtom:
Gates K080514 is 51.4" It shreads
Gates K080525 is 52.6" and it falls off.
This tells me you need something in the middle... which would be 52"

it is beeter to determine sizes by MM
like
stock S/C belt size is 1289mm
gates belts
k080514 = 52" = 1320mm
k080525 = 53 1/8 = 1351mm
k080530 = 53.5 = 1359mm.
i calculate it by this method.
stock is 152mm
mine is 189mm
so 189-152 = 37mm.
i have double spacers (wood 12mm, Phenolic 6mm) so total 18mm
you have to multiply by 2 because the belt cross it two times (going up and going down) = 36mm
so now the final E is
E = diffrence between pulley size + 2(lower spacer thickness) + stock belt size
for me E = 37 + 36 + 1289 = 1362mm. and than i choose the nearest size available which in my case was 1359m. which is k080530

try by installing a smaller tensoiner pulley, it will help
although the 514 should be fine for your size.
the 525 slips because it is not 100% accurate as it is not strieght. i think some factory error.

LOL .. I was just wondering how could I ever make use of the new Contitech 8PK 1360 I have among my pulley things
ps: JAGUAR belt is not like stock, it's 1305mm

Phenolic spacers = 6mm x 4 (for up and down length) =24mm
172-152 = 20mm
Stock length = 1289
So total = 1289+24+20 = 1333 or 52.5" which Should be the K080525.
OH BTW I just shredded the 525 belt again this morning and broke the tensioner housing.

The tensioner housing was scored and I couldn't figure out why.
I then looked under the coolant lines and found this...
Top of tensioner housing...
So now I'm thinking that under heavy accleration the tensioner was getting caught under the coolant line long enough for the tension to slack off and cause the belt to pop off.

I am replacing the tensioner as it's broken and I THINK it was the tensioner getting stuck under the coolant tubes causing the tension to come off the belt.

e 55 pulley help!!!
hi my e 55 amg damper pulley broke,i had a engineer make up the front section of pulley where the supercharger belt runs on but they did not fit a rubber on it they also added additional screws for stregnth when fitted and cars on it gives a vibration my mechanic informed me that pulley needs balancing is this the case or should it be fitted with rubber,thank you

have heard k080525 is the right size, but i ordered that and it was way too long....was about to order k080496HD but then heard that one member said it was impossible to fit on even with tensioner maxed out....
Please does anyone have info on this thanks
