Plug and Play larger Fuel Injector?

I know there have been several fuel injector threads but not many hard tested facts on plug and play injectors for our rails? Anyone change to aftermarket injectors and what size / part number you using ?

I would like to use the Green tops, as they are readilly available for most aftermarket rails.. Anyone try these and know if they will fit?

I can't help much on the question asked, but I'm just curious about the stock injectors. What's their flow rate and what kind of duty cycles are you seeing in your setup?

I found another part number for green tops, 0280155968. Everything else looks the same except for the diameter, these are 16mm and the -558 part you linked to is 24mm, and this is the other info:
Electrical connector type: EV1
Length: 3 inches, 74 mm
Orings: Top and bottom, 14.5 mm
Resistance: 14.5 Ohms

What are these stats for the stock injector?

Larger diameter should be fine.. Stock stats that Amhad posted a while back and on the bosch site, are 37.5lb injector @ 43.5 PSI or around 412CC at same PSI.. I would like a little larger than Greentops but they are very easy to find.. Forget the price listed on the link, I just used that site for numbers and pictures..

Big Reds may even be a better choice. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/8-BOS...mZ350370985866... Same specs as Green tops but still not sure what the stock specs are? Size, lenght and clip type?

Are our OEMs made by Bosch? Their parts finder does not list fuel injectors:

Yes, they are bosch. Here is the number. 55k fuel injector bosch p/n 0-280-156-072

Jerry is running me over a stock injector in an hour.. Now that is damn fine service from a great tuner! I have increased HP by more than 25%, so screw second guessing my stock injectors.. Need to get some larger ones, re-tune and get on down to the TEXAS MILE!

The Big reds you posted are used on KB Cobra's quite a bit. Five-o is a big seller and offers a money back guarantee. I say pick up the reds and try it out. You will need some re-scaling on the Tune, so having Jerry close is a great asset. I am very interested in this as I am sure the upper rpm lean spots are 100% injector related. I you and Jerry get a tune worked out I will probably follow suit.

Yes, that is why I have been looking at the mustang Bosch injectors, as they are well proven and offered at great prices..

Just met with Jerry and the tune will be worked out quickly for the injectors.. Just need the right ones to fit.. Jerry has a STAR, recordable wide band tool and we of course have plenty of dyno`s,,, after are live road test in Mexico..

Yes Mike! Very nice find.. I went through about a thousand of them and very limited to have more CC and stay at 61mm lenght.. As usual, AMG does not make it easy..

A larger height would just move up the fuel rail a bit, there might be enough room for that. Even more room if you add upper and lower intake spacers, or do you already have those?

Brooke I have a set of Ford Red top 30# injectors. If needed.

I don't uses them on the Ls1 engines because the firing offset is a pain to get right and then Bosch ones from Racetronix are much easier to tune on a Ls1

Good idea on intake spacers.. How thick are they? Don`t hqave them, as never belived they work but if they help me fit 52lb injectors, then worth their weight in gold..lol

Kurt , 30lb are way to small and smaller than stock.. Looking for 52lb range.. We have 37.7lb range now @ 65 PSI from 5K up.. 80PSI below 5K..

I think they are 1/4" each, so you could gain 12mm of space with both of them installed. When we ran my car on the dyno, the tops stayed warm to the touch... so they do something, maybe just not much of it when it comes down to putting the power down.

Gentlemen:

First thing first, yes length is important I mean will it fit and clear the supercharger, wire harnesses, etc, etc.

Capacity is also important, yes bigger is better.

However you have overlooked, or forgot to mention, the single MOST important issues, Impedance.. Just about EVERY injector over 42 lbs/hr sold in the USA is a low impedance injector, around 2.2 ohm. Most stock injectors are around 14 ohm.

Please measure your stock injector before trying a large US injector. You may be heading for some trouble that you have not looked for my friend.

I apologize if this has already been looked into, but no one here has mentioned this MOST critical step.

Good luck to you pioneers for all of us

The bosch 50Lb "Giant Red's" ARE high impedance. They have the same EV1 connector. They only thing that needs verification is the length. The rails will sit about 1cm higher and will need a spacer to bolt up if there is clearance between the rail and the plenums( a 10mm nut will do in a piunch). Bottom line is if there is clearance, these will work great.

You are wasting your time and your looking for tuning issues. Your mods do not support adding larger injectors. You better have access to a tuning map so you can properly scale them.

If your looking for injectors here you go.....http://www.fiveomotorsport.com/

If your looking for someone to flow, clean or machine the pintel to fit your manifold......http://www.rceng.com/ ask for SRT8 John

.

I would have to agree that the standard injectors are about right for the HP produced by most of the available mods. Any thoughts about the 6 port SLR injectors? - - - perhaps a better spray pattern. I think they have been retrofitted by some, but haven't heard much feed back on the results.
