Hey guys,
Anyone out there dealt with putting a non-Motorola phone or OEM hook-up in their E55 in order to use the voice activated NAV?? I have ATT Wireless as a provider with a Siemens phone, if that helps.
So far, my dealer has been no help here.
Any hints or tips are appreciated.
Thanks
- pak

Unless you're up for some serious hacking, forget it. You can't even get a non-MB Motorola of the same model integrated, much less a non-Motorola phone. It's possible to get it working through the sound system I believe, but voice activation would not work and they COMAND keypad would not work as the system could not communicate with the phone.

Thanks for the follow-up, Kaneman.
I actually spoke to someone last night that said there are a few OEM options available, but it takes rewiring all the way to the radio and command system....
I can't believe there is not another, more widely accepted solution given all the business MB is getting off of lease backs... (Hmmm, business opportunity........)
Oh well, I will keep searching and post again if I find anything.
thx

Feel Lucky! Owners of 2003 SL, CL and S-Class cars can only use the MBZ V60 phone with Voice Control at $1995. W210 and other models can save $400 if they don't want Voice Control at $1595. Still Expensive.

You can buy the European parts (which are not sold as a kit), and then plug in a Nokia 6310i phone
(tri band GSM phone)
There are a couple of people who have done this in the US - its cheaper than buying the US stuff since the phones are just normal Nokia phones rather than ones with bodged software in them to only work with the MB car kit

What vehicle are you putting this in ? (there are some cradle bits that can be different in different vehicles)
I think Richard Gleason tells you where he got the bits from (he ordered them direct from Germany, its cheaper than buying them from the US) - I have a UK dealer who will ship to the US aswell.

![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Richard,
It sounds like the parts you are suggesting are for Nokia phones only. Is this correct...? I am looking to hook up a Siemens GSM phone.
Thanks for the tip on rgleasons thread. I will check that out as well.

Ok,
Ive just realised that the 03 E class has the new "MOST" based stuff, as compared with all other MB vehicles which have "D2B"
So, the controller and cradles are different for the 03 E then all the other vehicles - and in fact, no one has done this for the new E class.
I will find out the latest cradle for D2B based cars, and work on the parts for the MOST based new E class. The phone parts are all made by Nokia, so it should all hang together ...
(MOST and D2B are fibre optic networks for the audio system - the new E class has all new stuff, such as the DVD based COMAND in it)

Hey, what do you mean "no one has done this for the new E class"... ??? That's presumptuous don't you think?

It would be great to know if the Euro Nokia interface really does work with the US head-unit software on the MOST bus.
As I said, Im pretty sure it will.
And, we know that the D2B based system (ie COMAND/Audio-30 etc) does work fine
Thanks for the picture of the 211 Most phone controller - I'd never seen one before !
